Lake of the Woods Bears Drop a pivotal Section 8A Game To Badger/Greenbush-Middle River After Late Score
Tuesday's game against Badger/Greenbush-Middle River was a heartbreaker for the Lake of the Woods Bears, as they lost the lead late in a 7-6 defeat.
The game was tied at six in the top of the seventh when a wild pitch scored a run to ultimately win it for the Gators.
Lake of the Woods got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lucas Holen flew out, and Eddy Martinson grounded out, each scoring a run.
Badger/Greenbush-Middle River jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Foss singled to left field, Vacura grounded out, and Hanson singled down the left field line, each scoring runs.
Badger/Greenbush-Middle River committed an error, which helped the Bears tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
Lake of the Woods took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Holen scored after tagging up, to give Lake of the Woods Bears the lead, 4-3.
Badger/Greenbush-Middle River jumped back into the lead in the top of the sixth when Foss singled, scoring one run, and Gust doubled, scoring two runs.
Tange singled to center field, which helped the Bears tie the game at six in the bottom of the sixth inning
Tange provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Lake of the Woods with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Block and Maki each collected two hits for Lake of the Woods as well.
Badger/Greenbush-Middle River accumulated 13 hits in the game. Foss and Gust were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Badger/Greenbush-Middle River. Hanson, Foss, Gust, and Vacura each drove in one run for the Gators.
The Bears play at Bemidji State University Thursday against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in a Northland Conference game.
