We’re proud to recognize four athletes who continue to show hard work and leadership as our Week 2 Runners of the Week

Olivia Jessen – Our high school girls' Runner of the Week. Tough as nails as a freshman, Olivia led our squad at the Boone Central Invite. She continues to improve, trust herself, and show her potential with every race.

Bo Richter – Our high school boys' Runner of the Week. Bo is a senior leader who has been a great runner for us this season. He crushed his career PR and continues to set a strong example for his teammates.

Sophia Bishop – Our junior high girls Runner of the Week. Sophia has attended every practice this fall and consistently brings a positive attitude. Her dedication and encouragement have made her a great influence on her teammates.

Charlie Renner – Our junior high boys' Runner of the Week. Charlie pushes himself during practices and on race days. He also brings an uplifting presence before races, especially when he breaks out his sweet dance moves!

These four are excellent examples of dedication, leadership, toughness, and team spirit.

The coaches' Class C Week 2 rankings have been released. Lincoln Christian's boys jump into the top spot after a partial squad ran well at its season debut on Thursday in Seward. Holdrege drops to #2 despite sweeping the top six spots at Cozad. The top 5 teams from the preseason poll shuffled their spots, but the #6-10 teams are all new in this week's rankings.

On the girls' side, Adams Central retains the top spot after edging new #2 Minden (previously unranked) by one point at the Minden meet. Wayne jumped from unranked to #3 after two strong meets by Tayla Hurner and freshmen Hadley Dunklau and Sarah Kuchta. Four of the top five teams competed at Minden on Saturday, and the rankings reflect their order of finish.

The Norfolk Catholic boys and girls teams, just having arrived in Class C, both enter the rankings at #10 this week.

You can find all of the team rankings (usually released on Mondays or every other Monday) and individual rankings (released on every Tuesday) at https://preprunningnerd.com/rankings.

Our Class C boys pre-season rankings are posted. Our website at https://www.preprunningnerd.com/preseason-1 includes more detail on the top 10 listed below, the top 15 rankings, and the Nerd watch list. Our Class C preview at https://www.preprunningnerd.com/post/2026cbpreview provides more detail on the Class C field.

Since this is the first rankings of the season, we'll give more background this week. As a reminder, we post individual rankings to generate increased interest in the sport, and we’re not out to hurt anyone’s feelings.

About half of the top Class C boys competed last week. Samuel McQuistan of Holdrege was the top Class C finisher at GINW while Esten Kohl of Platteview (back in Class C after a two-year visit to Class B) won the Auburn meet. Jack Steinbach of DC West edged Miles Clausen of Battle Creek at Logan View on Thursday, but Miles is ranked higher in the preseason due to his 11th-place finish at State last year.

Norfolk Catholic has moved up to Class C this fall, and sophomore Teddy Haake earned his second career win at Hartington-Newcastle while his teammate Andrew Kastl (ranked 14th) was the second Class C finisher.

We may have a few heat-related cancellations this week, but hopefully most of the Class C boys will compete so we have a clearer picture of early-season fitness. The Seward meet on Thursday includes five Class C schools including Lincoln Christian and Lincoln Lutheran, so it will be interesting to see how the ranked boys match up against top competitors from Class A and B.

We'll post updated rankings every Tuesday. If you missed the coaches' team rankings we posted yesterday, you can find those at https://www.preprunningnerd.com/rankings.

We’re proud to recognize four athletes who have started the season with hard work and leadership for the Battle Creek XC teams:

Grace Herman – Our high school girls Runner of the Week. Grace is a fierce leader with an incredible work ethic and drive. She is off to the best start of her high school career and continues to set a strong example for her teammates.

Zayden Thramer – Our high school boys Runner of the Week. Zayden came out strong in his first race, making a big improvement from the week before, and running a great time while directly contributing to our varsity team score as a sophomore.

Brooklyn Brummels – Our junior high girls Runner of the Week. Brooklyn put in the work throughout the summer, and it is already paying off as she began the season strong at Logan View.

Conner Wolff – Our junior high boys Runner of the Week. Conner leads by example at practice, and that effort translates into being a great competitor and leader on race day for the Braves squad.

These four are excellent examples of dedication, leadership, and team spirit.

It's go time! Our XC teams take the line for the first time this season at Logan View. Races start this morning at 9:30!
