One of only two Olympic distance races in Louisiana, the Big Cajun Triathlon captured the most perfect weather for a race, calm waters and cloudy skies. After months of preparation, triathletes began a physical game of chess: sliding across glassy water for the 2-lap open water swim in False River, jockeying for position on the bike, and leaving it all behind on the 6.2 mile run course. In the end, surprised athletes took the age group awards, including second overall and seventeen year old Matthew Vargas. Congrats to all the finishers! Thank you to Triathlons powered by Fleet Feet Sports.
