Some things begin as a simple gesture and grow into something far more meaningful.
Our Positive Thoughts Jar is one of those things.
During COVID, I purchased a jar of positive thoughts from an online vendor. My family and I read through those little messages, finding encouragement, reflection, and sometimes exactly the words we needed in that moment.
When Move Your Body Yoga opened, I brought that same jar into the studio. For our first year, we shared those thoughts with our community, one message at a time.
And then something shifted.
I began writing our own positive thoughts. Words inspired by our teachings, conversations, experiences on the yoga mat, and the world around us.
Some came from places of strength. Others from moments of uncertainty, despair, hope, and those quiet spaces where we search for peace.
Each thought became more intentional. More personal. More connected to the community we were building.
Today, our Positive Thoughts Jar is part of who we are.
This week, as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our thoughts are centered on strength. Not just the strength it takes to keep going, but the strength it takes to ask for help, to listen without judgment, to stand beside someone, and to remind another person that they do not have to carry everything alone.
Because strength isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s a quiet decision. Sometimes it’s reaching out. And sometimes it’s simply knowing that someone is there.
Yes, we practice yoga. But what we’re building extends far beyond the mat.
We are building community. Creating space for compassion. Encouraging movement, mindfulness, connection, and healing.
One breath. One movement. One positive thought at a time.
With love and intention,
