At this weekends NYS outdoor track and field championships, Batavia had another great showing including two more 1st place finishes! Here’s a recap from the weekend:
Karizma Wescott placed 2nd in the Girls Class B 400m and then 4th in Girls Class B 200m, Karvel Martino placed 2nd in the Class B Shot Put and was 9th overall in the State, our Girls 4x100m relay team of Ady O’Donnell, Nevaeh Thomas, Ella Shamp, Karizma Wescott took first and again are state champs for Class B, then our girls relay team of Ady O’Donnell, Sophia Lawrence, Mallory Boyce, and Karizma Wescott earned the title of 4x400m Class B State Champions (new school record of 3:53.88), Nevaeh Thomas took 4th place in Class B for the 100m, Madeline Smith took 6th place in Girls Class B 100m Hurdles, Cade Shamp took 5th and Isaac Varland took 6th in Boys Class B Discus. Congratulations to all of our athletes who represented us this weekend!

Some exciting news Blue Devil nation…with all the NYS outdoor track and field state qualifiers now complete in every section, it’s confirmed that the time of :46.78 posted by our girls 4x100 relay team of O’Donnell, Thomas, Shamp, and Wescott is the fastest time this year in the state and the second fastest time in section V history! This is setting up very nicely as we head into state finals next Saturday and Sunday in Webster- let’s go Blue Devils!

Congrats to the Batavia boys and girls Outdoor Track and Field teams! Both teams took home the sectional title, each surpassing 200 team points and lapping the rest of the field by over 50 points! Next up is State Qualifiers this Friday at Van Detta, 5pm…come out and support our Blue Devils!
