Last year was a rough year for me. Within 11 months I had been through 3 miscarriages. One right after the other. After my last one in January, I decided and agreed that it was time to give my body a rest and to finally get healthy and loose some weight. I will admit, I had a love hate relationship with the gym and eating healthy. I would have periods where I would go to the gym for a few weeks, then there were periods where I would only go once or twice a week and not give a damn what I was eating. Finally in February I decided to reach out to a friend who was a trainer. She was great and gave me a plan, but it wasn’t a face to face training experience I needed. I followed that plan for about 2 months with minimal results. Then came time for me to go on a cruise. And that’s when I fell off that “get healthy” bandwagon. I continued to periodically go to the gym here and there with no consistency. I was my own worst enemy with putting my body and health first. Finally in June I was sick and tired of always feeling sick and tired. I decided it was time to hire an actual trainer and put my health at the forefront. So in June I reached out to 3 trainers and told them what my goals were and what I struggled with. Only 1 trainer answered my lengthy email. That 1 trainer….Nicole. She emailed me back within a few hours and we agreed to meet in person the following week and I haven’t looked back since. Nicole put me on the track to feeling better and putting my health first. Yeah sure she’s going to say it was all me and the work I put into it but I beg to differ. She motivated me, had faith in me and believed (and still does) that I could achieve anything that I put my mind to and focus on. She taught (and continues to teach me) proper form when lifting weights, listening to my body when it needs rest, and pushes me through those difficult HIIT trainings when I don’t think I can do any more (she even was there to help me swallow my pride when I fell off the treadmill...yes just like those tik toks). Nicole and I meet once a week to incorporate new exercises or routines and it’s been the best 2 months of me feeling and looking better. Yeah sure the scale is slow moving but I can tell a difference in the way my clothes feel and fit and the inches are melting away (see, I didn’t believe her when she told me I’d loose more inches than weight…and here I am believing her now!). So Nicole, thank you for motivating me and seeing that I was stronger than I was giving myself credit for.
