There is a turning that’s happening in the industry.
A gap that started a great divide.
But it isn’t the stylists who are charging $500+ who feel it.
No, it’s the ones who are trying to be ‘middle of the road’ in their prices thinking that it’s going to give you the best of both worlds.
But what I know to be true, the clients in the middle are the hardest to please.
So how do you fix this?
The hate that you see everywhere?
Contradictory to what I said in this little black and white… our industry needs to do two things:
First, tell your client the damn price for the service before you start.
If you feel weird quoting people for their goal, you need to get over it.
Because an unexpected price bomb at the end will p**s anyone off.
Second, you have to stop acting like your career is a hobby.
They want to deregulate our industry for good reason.
No one takes us seriously because hardly any of us take ourselves seriously.
Discounting out of pressure, and most of it is pressure you put on yourself. Not what the client places on you.
Acting like hair is *fun* is great…
…but if you have no idea how to run a business? Then that fun is sucked out really quickly by the reality straw.
So we have an industry filled with stylists (and beauty professionals in general), who don’t know how to talk about money.
Feel uncomfortable price quoting.
Have no idea how to run a successful business that actually operates like one.
And have an insanely hard time saying no.
So truthfully… the fix isn’t just price transparency.
The fix has to happen within yourself.
You’ve got to fix the people pleasing, because it actually isn’t pleasing anyone.
Just shows you’re a welcome doormat.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
And as a recovering people pleaser, I can 100% say it’s pretty awesome when you get there too.
And you can get there.
🔴 On your own, it just takes more time, discipline and a lot more determination. It’s extremely hard.
🌕 Doing it with someone? You’re more likely to make the change.
🟢 But it’s easier when you join a cohort lead by a mentor who will do it with you.
Comment “SOLO” if you’re ready for easier.
