A couple of weeks ago the mono winds destroyed this osprey nest. Since then they have been hard at work rebuilding it. As I looked up through the heavy vegetation this morning, the nest and the moon were lined up. For those of you who like the osprey, they are very active with the heaviest concentrations between the Forks and Recreation Point which is the shallow end of the lake.

Good morning! Last Saturdays Yosemite Half Marathon held at Bass Lake was a great success. Over 3,500 runners participated! The finish line was at Recreation Point, our group use area, which is where this sunrise photo was taken a few months prior. More happenings this week as the annual antique wooden boat show returns this weekend and you can see them at Millers Landing or on the lake.

With the high cost of wedding venues these days, you might consider having your wedding outdoors at Bass Lake. This past weekend a wonderful wedding took place at Recreation Point, our group use area. It is only available by reservation and the couple getting married decided to rent all three of the group day use areas. It was a beautiful wedding, photographs were taken with the lake as a backdrop, and then a tasty BBQ was served. If you would like to consider this location, ask for me (Larry) and I would be happy to show you around in person.

Still time to register for the annual fishing derby this Saturday and Sunday. Sign up at the Bass Lake Chamber of Commerce web site or go to Millers Landing web site. It’s going to be a beautiful weekend weather wise. Pictured is 1,000 pounds of tag fished being planted in the lake today.
