Congrats to Aubrey Marie Whittaker, Savannah Worley, Abby Dunn & Maria Carrico👏

Thirty-five Southwest student-athletes received the TCCAA’s L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement for their work in the classroom during the 2023-2024 academic year. To qualify for the award, they needed to achieve a 3.0 grade point average with a minimum of 24 (college level) hours for the fall and spring semesters with a (part-time) exception made for graduating sophomores. The Saluqis’ baseball team led with fifteen honorees, followed by women’s soccer with nine, softball with six, women’s basketball with two and men’s basketball with two.

Five Saluqis were ‘Diamond Team’ recipients for earning a 4.0 GPA – Connor Brinkley, Jeff Tiw, and Bryce Turner from baseball, Lauren Pettie from softball, and Savannah Worley from women’s soccer. Brinkley is a repeat recipient of the Diamond Team award.

Thirteen were named to the ‘First Team’ (3.50-3.99 GPA) – Mason Little, Blaine Nunnally, Evan Ashe, Ian Dittmer, and Copeland Bradford from baseball, Mariah Morgan, Cailey Robbins, and Ashley Aldridge from softball, Juli Gross, Aubrey Whitaker, and Evelyn Ozment from women’s soccer, Condoleeza Black from women’s basketball, and Alex Vandenbergh from men’s basketball.

Seventeen were named to the ‘Second Team’ (3.00-3.49 GPA) – Charlie Smith, Nick Stamper, Ryan Young, Hayden Collins, Jeb Cox, Ryan Welch, and Caleb Adams from baseball, Hadley Bobbitt, Kelsey Brown, Abby Dunn, Maria Carrico, Izzy Melvin, and Rainey Tiner from women’s soccer, Maddyx McNatt and Mandie Barrow from softball, Ja’Nia Wright from women’s and Will Farris from men’s basketball.

The NJCAA has announced the 2023-24 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. A total of 15 Southwest student-athletes have been honored for achieving a grade point average (GPA) above 3.60.

Five Saluqis were honored as NJCAA All-Academic First Team (4.00 GPA) - Connor Brinkley (baseball), Lauren Pettie (softball), Savannah Worley (soccer), Jeff Tiw (baseball), and Bryce Turner (baseball).

Second team (3.80-3.99 GPA) honorees are Juli Gross (soccer), Mason Little (baseball), and Aubrey Whitaker (soccer) and third team (3.60-3.79 GPA) recipients are Mariah Morgan (softball), Cailey Robbins (softball), Blaine Nunnally (baseball), Evan Ashe (baseball), Condoleeza Black (women's basketball), Ian Dittmer (baseball), and Ashley Aldridge (softball).
