Villa Olivia Ski Patrol

Villa Olivia Ski Patrol Villa Olivia Ski Patrol The golf course is just the beginning of what is offered at Villa Olivia. Villa Olivia is now a part of the Bartlett Park District.

Villa Olivia History
Named after the original owner's daughter, the Villa Olivia estate was built in the early 1900's in the town of Bartlett. Among the luxuries of the estate, there was a golf course that now serves as the cornerstone of the Villa Olivia Country Club, purchased in 1966 by the Corrado Family. In 1968, the Corrado's realized the underutilized potential of their property during the

winter months. As a result, a ski facility was opened with enhancements finished in 1975. The ski operation currently offers 12 lighted downhill runs serviced by one four-person chair lift and six tow rope lifts. The ski facility is the most professionally run in the immediate Chicagoland area and currently hosts the Chicago Tribune Ski School aimed at beginners and intermediate skiers. It is the ideal facility for the novice skier just getting his/her first taste of the sport or the advanced skier perfecting his/her ability. The facility has complete ski snowmaking machines, snow-grooming vehicles cross country trails, ski equipment rentals, and clubhouse facility to service that most important time when the skiers are not perfecting their craft. Since the opening of the golf course and its clubhouse facility, the clubhouse has been host to countless weddings and banquets and currently serves both the Elgin and Bartlett Rotary Club luncheons on a weekly basis. The clubhouse has two full banquet rooms and can accommodate up to 850 guests. It is booked on a year round basis and is one of the finer facilities in the northwest suburban area.

What a fantastic way to wrap up another ski season! 🎿❄️

VOSP recently celebrated the incredible volunteers who make our patrol such a special community. A huge congratulations to everyone who completed OEC this year and to our newest patrol members—we’re excited to welcome you to the team and look forward to seeing all you’ll accomplish. And also, thank you to the patrol who spent countless hours making OEC happen.

We also had the privilege of recognizing Randy for an extraordinary 45 years of service with Ski Patrol. His dedication, witty teaching style, leadership, and commitment to helping others have made a lasting impact on countless patrollers and guests over the years.

Thank you to everyone who gives their time, energy, and passion to keep our slopes safe. Here’s to another successful season and many more memories ahead!

Please enjoy the pictures & goofy video that sums up our special community.

Not the longest season, not the deepest snow— but we showed up every chance we got. Making turns, running sleds, staying up to date on skills, and squeezing every bit out of a Midwest winter, VOSP gave it their all. The sleds have been placed back in the shack and will be ready to make their appearance for 2027!!

Thank you Villa Olivia Winter Sports and to all our guests for allowing us to be apart of your winter activities.

Patrol proud, always ⛷️🏥 Please enjoy pictures captured throughout our season that was measured in open days and not in inches.

If you’re interested in joining our crew please shoot us a message!

Gorgeous blue bird day at Villa Olivia today!

Ski safety is always our top priority — be sure to know the difference between frostbite vs frostnip and when to get medical attention 🏥

🥶Frostnip (the warning sign)
❄️ What it is: Mild cold injury to the surface of the skin
❄️ Feels like: Tingling, numbness, stinging
❄️ Looks like: Pale or red skin; skin stays soft
❄️ Damage: No permanent damage
❄️ What to do: Get warm ASAP (gloves, layers, shelter). It usually resolves quickly

🧊 Frostbite (the real deal)
❄️ What it is: Freezing of skin and underlying tissue
❄️ Feels like: Numb, hard, loss of sensation
❄️ Looks like: White/gray/yellowish skin; skin feels firm or waxy
❄️ Damage: Can be permanent (blisters, tissue loss)
❄️ What to do: Medical evaluation needed — seek out Ski Patrol (the skiers in a red coat!). Rewarm carefully; don’t rub or refreeze

On March 27, 2017 I found a snowboarder named Gus from Hawaii passed out in the trees. This happened at Breckenridge ski resort.

So, with a whimper, the 2022-2023 skiing and snowboarding season has come to a close. The rain/ice storm last night did us in. So until December stay safe….we look forward to sharing our passion next season.

It was a gorgeous day at Villa Olivia today. Spring conditions for sure.

To close out the snow sports season, the 24 members of the Villa Olivia Ski Patrol contributed over 912 hours of patrolling to the guests enjoying skiing, boarding and tubing during the 2021-2022 season. We shared great times together and hopefully left positive impressions on those Villa Olivia guests that we met and assisted. Until the snow flies again - have a safe and enjoyable summer.
