Yesterday I spent the day volunteering at the in a medic tent at mile 19.9, just before Heartbreak Hill. It was an unforgettable experience!
The Boston Athletic Association did a fantastic job with all of the preparation and it was incredible to be in a group of medical professionals and see them in action.
We were a team of 24 and kept runners safe and moving toward the finish line. My role was checking in and checking out people who visited our station - over 250 stopped in (mostly for Biofreeze and a quick muscle rub before the hill!).
As a coach, it was incredible to see the variety of athletes on the course. Different in every way imaginable. Each unique runner showed up with their story, their talent, and their courage. I am honored to have been of service to you and your efforts.
As an event coordinator, it was enlightening to see the scale of this race and the thoughtful planning that went into making a course so safe and inviting. It did not go unnoticed!
Cheers to all of you who:
🌟 Participated
🌟 Volunteered
🌟 Cheered
🌟 Prepared the course
🌟 Cleaned up the course
🌟 Kept the course safe
🌟 Planned the event
Boston, you've brightened my heart!
