I was running this morning, thinking about how great it will be once I’ve sold my house and moved. I’ve wanted to sell my house for a few years and have finally put it on the market and it’s
given me a sense of expansion. It’s also left me feeling a bit stressed, along with other aspects of my life that aren’t going as planned.
I realized, as I was imagining my new, perfect life in my new, perfect house, that I was wrong. I mean, I’m sure I’ll feel happiness in my new house, and I’m sure it will be exciting initially. But
the house isn’t going to increase my joy in any meaningful way. The only way I can increase my joy is discover and heal what’s blocking my joy, and decide to bring more joy into my body.
I wasn’t ready to tackle the blocks to my happiness, but in that moment, I decided to bring more joy into my body. I was running, which tends to make me happy anyway, and I used memories and thoughts of the people I love to increase my gratitude and general feeling of ease and
happiness. I brought all of my awareness into my body and looked around at the gift of Vermont’s natural landscape I was surrounded by, and I was overwhelmed by how wonderful it
all felt.
So this is just a reminder that you have joy within you, which means you have access to it at any time. You don’t have to wait for anything. And the beautiful thing about this is that the more
happiness you bring yourself, the more you give to others, and the more happiness you will likely attract.
