Awesome day of sailing today!!!
Starting with stiff morning breeze (ha!!) out of the NNW down Hamblins Pond just on the edge of A suite.
Reed brought his green hull with his B rig and easily watched everyone heel deep.
As the sun rounded up, the breeze lightened a bit, allowing everyone to keep the fleet tight for exciting racing.
Great day had by all!!!

Awesome day of sailing. Again Hamblin’s Pond SSE and SE winds challenge every skipper. But some tight fleet racing.

Reed had the view of the line for this start…one of many today as the sun was out, warm. But southern winds made interesting fun.
Marks pulled at the end.
Hope to see you all at the season ender on the 11th, to close out 2023 and plan for 2024 season.

HA!!! You thought I wasn’t going to post todays activities….
It was warm!
The weather played havoc on Marston’s Mills today as heat and cold were destined to merge.
The predominantly SW winds were gusty in the morning. Very unsettled. Then regained as the breeze moved from SW, around to SSE. Anyone who has raced here sees the downdraft challenges.
Between total dead spots to stiff gusts, to arbitrary downdrafts in close, backdrafts where you can switch tacks and not change course.
It makes skippers life interesting, challenging, frustrating, and bonding. Everyone sails the same conditions. It is not for the faint hearted, it is difficult to sail, but builds thumb control.

2 Solings and 5 DF 95’s on the pond today.
So to echo our UK guest Craig’s post, the breeze at Hamblin’s Pond today was light, out of the South East which gave the skippers plenty of down drafts in close to the shoreline heading to mark #3 for our upwind leg. Early races were hard, but once the rounding was made the down winds were pretty quick over to mark #2 and mark #1. Rounding the homeward leg made for tricky winds again to the finish line. Later, the rain clouds closed in, and the breeze picked up for the last few races.
Results were interesting as everyone was mixed throughout the fleet.
Overall another challenging day.
