For the first time in school history, the Ballard Memorial Lady Bombers are the First Region softball champions after defeating Hickman County 7-4 Wednesday night a title rematch of sorts.

Ballard Memorial will represent the 1st Region for the first time at the KHSAA State Softball Tournament after defeating Hickman County 7-4 in the regional championship game. It was big hits with 2 outs that proved to be the difference. After the Lady Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, Adalyn Hargrove came up huge in the 2nd inning. Her 3-run HR over the left field fence with 2 outs gave Ballard Memorial a 3-2 lead. The Lady Falcons responded with another 2 run inning, this time in the 3rd inning to regain the lead at 4-3. In the 4th, a 2-out Lady Falcon error gave the Lady Bombers another chance. Tournament MVP Aubrey Alexander took a 2-0 pitch deep and over the right center fence for a 3-run HR to give the Lady Bombers a 6-4 lead. Alexander delivered a 2 out RBI double in the 6th to extend the advantage to 3 runs. In the circle, Mady Bohde retired the last 7 batters she faced to secure the Lady Bombers 1st ever trip to the state tournament. They will play the winner of the 14th region in the Sweet 16 on June 5th in Lexington.
