The captain of the WHITE TEAM:
Terri is a retired registered nurse, mom, grandma, and an incredible seven-time Ironman triathlon finisher. After decades of swimming, cycling, and running for miles, she thought she knew exactly what it meant to push beyond her limits. Then she traded her triathlon gear for sparkly heels and stepped into the unexpected world of ballroom dancing.
One quote has followed Terri throughout her journey: “Respect the training, honor the commitment, cherish the results.”
Suddenly, she found herself learning to smile through “five, six, seven, eight,” trust her partner, remember which foot went where—and somehow do it all in heels and a dress.
Training for her first ballroom competition was nerve-racking, exhilarating, and completely outside her comfort zone. Terri stepped onto the dance floor with no expectations and just one goal: to have fun—preferably without stepping on anyone’s toes.
And she had the time of her life.
The results were an unexpected bonus. But the greatest reward was discovering that after years of pushing herself to go farther and faster, a completely different kind of challenge could be just as exciting and fulfilling.
Terri’s journey is a wonderful reminder that sometimes the next adventure begins when we trade the familiar for the unexpected—and, in her case, running shoes for sparkly heels.
