Barboursville Brawl Youth Football Tournament

Our inaugural Barboursville Brawl concluded this evening. 17 hard fought games were played between 11 teams ranging from 4 different age groups. Congratulations to our champions:

7U WV Reapers
9U WV Reapers
10U Elite Punishers
11U WV Dawgs

I’m sure I will forget someone but I’d like to thank the following people for doing the work behind the scenes to make this tournament a success:

1) Barboursville Youth Football League coaches and board members Dallas Nibert, Alan Beasley, Shannon Skaggs, and Brad Merritt for coming to the field both mornings to set up the field and making it ready for play.

2) BYFL members Tiffany Moore, Jeremy Moore, Erica Pauken, and Nick Pauken. Tiffany and Jeremy ran the concession stand all weekend along with Erica while Nick helped operate the scoreboard.

3) Dark Knights coaches Ben Smith and Ed Blankenship for checking in each team.

4) The WV Reapers and Tri State Lumberjacks for coming together and dedicating this tournament to Dylan Larson. The games today for both organizations meant so much more than just football.

5) Lumberjacks mega coach Dionte Coleman for organizing the donation buckets and 50/50 drawing for the Larson family.

6) BYFL President Levi Merritt for showing up early and staying late and doing many things like announcing, running the scoreboard, and making sure everything was running smoothly. He didn’t have a kid playing this weekend and even missed time away from his family on his birthday weekend to be here.

7) Referees John, Scott, Robin (Tubby), and Sean for officiating all 17 games. They are the best for a reason and this weekend showed that. They are truly there for the kids and their actions prove that.

8. All the teams and parents for showing passion during the game but class afterwards.

9) Barboursville Park caretaker Harold for selflessly cleaning the grounds after each day and making sure things were open and ready to go.

10) Barboursville Parks and Recreation coordinators Andre Price and Brandi Beasley for allowing us to host this event.

11) The parents of the Cabell Midland High School cheerleaders for working the concession stand and gate.

12) Kitchen’s by Woody’s and Crews, Nibert, and Hettlinger (CNH) Family Dentistry for graciously sponsoring this event.

13) Last and certainly not least….Mother Nature, whoever and wherever you are, for giving us the perfect weather weekend. This weekend couldn’t have felt more like a late-October weekend if it tried!

I’m 100% sure I forgot to thank someone or somebody, but just know that we truly do appreciate you in everything that you do for the youth of this community.

We wanted to make this event special for every team and player by announcing each game and giving each game the spotlight and I hope we were able to accomplish that! Until then, we hope to see you next year! Thanks again!

Very solid first day of our inaugural Barboursville Brawl. The weather was beautiful and it felt like a Fall day out there!

Congratulations to the (Diggity) Dawgs on winning the 11U Championship. If someone has a picture of them with their trophy, please share it with us!

We will start tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM with the 2 vs 3 matchup in the 9U division!

DIRECTIONS TO THE FIELD:

If you use Google Maps, type in “Barboursville Multi-Sport Turf Complex” and it will take you right there.

If you use the park’s address:

County Rd 31/6
Barboursville, WV 25504

That address will take you to the red pin (pictured below). Go past the baseball fields and make the first right after the baseball field on Deer Run Road. Follow Deer Run Road for about 1 mile and you’ll run right into the field.

We will play on the field with the scoreboard.

Good morning, everyone! We are less than 48 hours until Showtime. Here are some things to remember regarding the tournament….

*Team check in*

1. Please make sure to have the following:
- Sports or state ID (100% required)
- Medical Waiver (we will have some on hand)
- Tournament Registration form (we will have on hand)
- please bring a birth certificate as well.
- PLEASE HAVE TEAM ROSTER with each player’s date of birth along with first and last name

9:00 AM - 9U Elite Punishers

10:00 AM - 10U Lumberjacks Black and 10U Dark Knights

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn this terrible tragedy. We will hold a moment of silence for Dylan and his family before our first game on Saturday and before the 7U Reapers take the field on Sunday. We will also hold a 50/50 raffle for Dylan’s family and will set up 2 donation jars, 1 at the gate and 1 at the concession stand. Please consider donating to this family during this very difficult time.

It is with heavy hearts that we post here today to honor and celebrate the life of Dylan Larson, a cherished son, brother, friend, and member of our WV Reapers community. Dylan's passing has left an indelible void in our lives, but his spirit will forever reside in our memories and hearts.

Dylan was more than just a presence; he was a beacon of light, radiating warmth, kindness, and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days, and his compassionate nature knew no bounds. Dylan had a rare gift of being himself always and will have everlasting impact on all who crossed his path during his time here on this earth.

Dylan was more than just a football player to our organization. He was a member of our family and we ask everyone to pray for their family as Dylan, his father Donavan, and his grandmother passed yesterday.

In this time of mourning, let us find solace in the memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the love that will forever bind us together. Let us honor Dylan's life by embracing each day with the same passion and zest that he did, knowing that he will always be with us in spirit.

SCHEDULE DROP:

Hey all. Pictured is our schedule for next weekend. Below are some details leading up to the tournament…

1) A coach or team representative needs to comment below that you have seen the schedule

2) Check-in is 1 hour prior to your first game. Please provide the following at check-in
- Roster with each player’s number and birthdate
- State or National Sports ID
- Each player’s registration form
- Each player’s medical waiver

Have a copy of the birth certificate in your folder but those don’t need to be seen.

3) The home team on the schedule will be on the press box side of the field. The away team will be on the opposite side. Some teams got 2 home games, some got 2 away games in pool play but we did that for convenience sake so teams wouldn’t have to switch sides.

4) the AWAY team will provide the chain gang (3 members). The chains will be on the AWAY team’s sideline.

5) 11U will be played entirely on Saturday.

6) 7U will be played entirely on Sunday.

7) Please email your roster to me to include each player’s first name, last name, and number so we can announce up in the press box. My email address is [email protected] .

We have opened up to other age groups as well. Below are the teams:

11U - WV Dawgs, WV Tribe

Also, the 7U Lumberjacks are ready and want competition. Please let me know if any 7U teams are interested. And any age group for that matter. We will accommodate!
