Hi I’m Coach Chris Thomas. I’ve been at CPAC for 5 years and I am the Performance/High Performance Director. I played high school tennis at New Trier, D1 tennis at Eastern Illinois, and was a graduate assistant coach at Western Illinois.

Really enjoy the journey. Find the fun in working hard and competing. Practice with a purpose and stay committed.

CPAC coaches raking in the hardware at state this past weekend…
Coach Josh Leighton head varsity boys coach, led the DHS Warriors to the State title in Class 1A. Coach Rich Koukol, assistant varsity boys coach, helped LFHS to a Class 1A 3rd place finish and Coach Izzy Balase, head varsity boys coach, finished strong with a 3rd place finish for SHS in Class 2A. Congrats on a great season to these stellar coaches and their teams!

Meet Our Team: Max Brito

Hey there! I’m Coach Max and I’ve been coaching at CPAC since the summer of 2023, and it’s been such a great experience so far. I’ve really enjoyed working alongside an awesome team and getting to know all of the members while helping create a fun and positive environment for everyone.

In high school, I was a two-time state qualifier, and after that I played on the club tennis team at University of Illinois — I-L-L!

Who’s your favorite player?
My favorite players are Rafael Nadal and Gael Monfils. I love Nadal’s competitiveness and intensity, and Monfils always brings creativity and entertainment to the court.

What’s your favorite shot?
My favorite shot is definitely the tweener — hands down. Tennis can be a difficult sport , so I think it’s fun to be creative whenever possible. On a more serious note though, I’d probably say volleys.

What words of advice do you have for your students?
Work as hard as you can and always be grateful for the opportunity to compete. Try your best, have fun, and enjoy the sport in your own way. Most importantly, stay coachable and keep learning every day.
