I plan on starting by touching the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, CA, on October 7th, 2013 and will touch the Atlantic Ocean near Brunswick, GA two to four years later. This feat is being undertaken to raise money for the LST 325 Ship Memorial, Inc. I was one of the crew that brought the LST 325 back from the Isle of Crete, Greese to the US in 2000-2001 as aired on the History Channel as "The Retur

n of LST 325." One thousand Fifty-One LST's were built during World War II. The 325 is the only one left that has been restored and is still operational. I plan on running 3 days a week averaging between 1/2 marathon and a marathon a week. I will start on Monday, October 7 and run again on Thursday and Saturday. I welcome any runners who would like to join me on any leg of my journey. Any runners wishing to make a tax deductible donation, please make checks payable to the USS LST Ship Memorial. Another routine day. Upcoming event Nov. 9, 2024 - 31st annual veteran's day parade 10 AM - 2 PM. 3669 Shasta Dam Blvd., Shasta Lake, CA. I will be the Grand Marshall riding in my nephew-in law's 35 Ford. No responsibilities, just waving at the viewers.

Count down! For those that need some time to plan. 10 months till my 102nd birthday. Come join me on my 1.02 mile walk. Be at the entrance to the Mt. Shasta mall, Redding, CA between 9:30-10:00 AM August 19, 2025. We walk inside the air conditioned mall, finish at the Outback restaurant for a birthday celebration lunch. All free, no fee! No presents please. I have more baggage than space. Every one welcome, on foot, wheel chair, strollers, papoose.

I have a business license for Coast to Coast Runs. I will close the account the end of this year. In the meantime I'm still accepting sponsors. My expenses are far more than income. I wrote off my expenses for tax purposes. When the business closes I will take the loss with no regrets, it was well worth the cost. If you would like to sponsor I take cash or check. I want to thank all my friends and family that wished me a happy birthday and the group that joined me on my 1.01 mile walk. In addition to the hundreds of birthday wishes, I received 134 birthday cards, Many from members of organizations that support veterans. Thank you Soldiers Angels, DAR Daughters of the American Revolution, NCL Moonlight & Friends of the troops. Makes me want to have more birthdays. Come join me on my 1.02 mile walk, August 19, 2025. I thank the Lord for so many blessings, LOVE LIFE!!

Nothing new! Just enjoying life of leisure. Spend most of my time on the computer. Manage to get to meals about half the time. It's a long walk and I need the exercise. Fix my own meals the rest of the time. Not that I'm a better cook. It's just that what my dentures can't handle my blender can.

Haven't posted much lately. Computer problems! Tim, my great-grandson came over and solved some of my problems. Modern technologies tend to frustrate us old fogies. The younger generation couldn't function without them. Thank God our kids kids had kids, other wise how could we cope?

Nothing new, just hanging in there, leisure living, loving life, great staff, good food. Think I'll hang around for awhile and enjoy.
