12 year old Avery Ward started kayaking with us last summer on the class 2 Lower Main. Now we’re closing out the summer watching him style laps in the 3’s and 4’s on the Canyon and Staircase sections. Nice work Avery! Charge on young Jedi!!!

Are you wanting to start whitewater kayaking? Here is a great way to get going. Bear Valley Kayak School is teaming up with for Intro to whitewater kayaking classes in Boise.
When? July 10th 6 P.M.-8 P.M.
Where? Idaho River Sports and Quinn’s Pond
This class includes a quick discussion on the different types of whitewater kayaks, paddles, and necessary equipment. We will then gear up and hit Quinn’s pond to introduce the basic paddle strokes and fundamentals of maneuvering whitewater kayaks. All gear will be provided. Before there was the there was the P.U.G, Festival (Payette Union of Guides) and before that the Boise County Throw Down. Here’s a pic of the OG Upper 5 race contestants. Just like the first NFC Ryan Casey smoked everyone. There were also loads of lower 3 mashes, S turn boater crosses, and spontaneous rodeos. Our personal favorite ….the teams of 3 top to bottom relay race. “Kings of the North Fork”. Ryan’s team also won that one.
