Challenger 5K Space Race

Challenger 5K Space Race Challenger Learning Center of Maine, a non-profit in Bangor Maine, is holding its 5K Race fundraiser on Saturday, March 31 at 10 AM.

Proceeds from the Challenger 5K Space Race will be used in support of Challenger's mission to increase student enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math, and to inspire students to consider careers in STEM. The Challenger 5K Space Race takes place to kick off the spring running season! Runners will enjoy a course through the neighborhood surrounding the Challenger Learning Center of

Maine, A hill along the course adds to the challenge and enjoyment for serious runners, and space themed markers add interest to be enjoyed by all ages. The race starts and ends at the Challenger Learning Center of Maine parking lot. For runners with young children, and for families who wish to come to cheer the runners, an Open House of Challenger's facility will take place during and immediately following the race. Prizes will be awarded according to age category, and all runners will receive a participation medallion (printed from Challenger's 3-D printer). NASA bags will be given to each runner, filled with souvenirs and gifts from area merchants. We've begun planning for the 2018 race, and would love to know ... what was your favorite part of the 2017 race?

The 3D medallions, the challenge of WAC Hill, the early spring date, registration process, volunteers, prizes ... your thoughts are appreciated!

Based on feedback received thus far, we're happy to announce that in 2018 we are adding a race category for youth ... and we're coming up with more elements to add to everyone's enjoyment!
