i’ve spent years thinking about the gap between the Support families need and the support they actually receive

One person can’t do it all. Families need lactation experts. They also need nurses, doulas, childbirth educators, Midwives, pediatricians, ect. Who feel confident having feeding conversations, recognizing red flags, and helping them find the support they need.

The future of Lactation support isn’t about creating more experts in Silos.

It’s about strengthening the network of professionals who are already working alongside families every day.

applications for Bridge Summer Camp are officially open, and I’m awarding scholarships this week.we start July 15.

As I am putting Summer Camp together, I keep getting excited about what could change between July and Labor Day if more birthworkers felt confident supporting breastfeeding and pumping families.

If you know a doula, nurse, childbirth educator, postpartum professional, or other birthworker who would be a great fit, I’d be so grateful if you’d share it with them.

My favorite part of offering scholarships? Getting to read the applications.

I get a lovely glimpse into the hearts behind birthwork.

Today I’ve been reading applications from doulas, nurses, and other birthworkers who want to feel more confident supporting breastfeeding and pumping families.

Humans who are already doing beautiful work and are looking for ways to better support the families they serve.

As I read through them, I keep thinking about what could change between July and Labor Day.

A birthworker who finally feels confident talking about pumping.

A doula who starts offering prenatal lactation visits.

A nurse who feels more prepared to support feeding conversations with families.

A childbirth educator who adds a breastfeeding or pumping class to their offerings.

It’s exciting because when one birthworker grows, the ripples reach so many families, and we slowly but surely close the huge gap that exists in lactation support.

I’m so grateful to be able to support that growth.

Scholarship applications for Bridge Summer Camp are open through Sunday (if they last that long: they’re being awarded in real time).
I’ve loved reading every single one so far.

The world needs more support for feeding our littles, and it starts with people willing to step forward and learn new things.
