More strength = more force to push yourself off the ground with! Now obviously this is only half the equation, because we need to apply the strength quickly, but I love trap bar deads for helping me raise my strength ceiling so I can apply it. Especially after a few months of inconsistency, I’m trying to get back to a regular schedule of lifting, jumping and want to make more content back to tracking my progress.

The craziest ending I’ve ever been a part of! Truly down to the last second. A brutal way to finish out but I’m super proud of the team - we battled our way through the playoffs and almost knocked off a great team, even on our 3rd game of the night. Definitely need to run it back again.

SEMIFINALS GOT HEATED 🔥 with the tournament all being held in one day, we had to dig deep after game one, but this game was smooth and fluid. We walked in as underdogs due to our regular season performance, but ready to make a statement as the fifth seed team.

Different Plyos offer different benefits! I’m a fan of all 3 of these, but I know I can handle more pogos, I want to prioritize speed, and use depth jumps as main driver for my more intensive work. That means I’ve done less seated jumps lately, but understanding what each does gives you the options to cater each to your goals!

The team is coming along 🚀 we’re starting off pretty strong, our only loss was a game where we only had 5 show up, which is definitely a downfall of the Men’s Leagues, but this one was way tighter than it should have been!

Training to jump higher does NOT have to be complicated 🚀 there are hundreds of tools and different ways to approach improving your vert - but mastering the basics will always be exponentially more important and give you the foundation to become elite.. Now obviously this list is simplified and great starting point, that I have personally made a ton of progress with, but keep in mind that your progress may need tweaks along the way based on your skills. I didn’t cover things like form or volume, partly because I tried to keep it short, but also because it can vary by person. Drop any questions below!

Elite athletes often DO have crazy genetics, but that absolutely shouldn’t disregard the work ethic it takes for them to express it at the level they do! When we look at things like a vertical jump, you’d be surprised how comparable your jump might be to many NBA players, their height is a huge asset but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are inherently explosive, and many guys in the league have below a 30” vert. Obviously there are outliers, but that doesn’t mean you or I can’t achieve elite level explosiveness through hard work! I find the ceiling is often much higher than we think, and there’s countless examples of people who are doing amazing athletic feats. So ask yourself, why not you too?

Which team are you taking!? Now I haven’t been in a league for a couple years, so getting used to running full 5’s is definitely a change from pickup, especially half court. But once we reall got warmed up, guys started hitting the shots we knew we need to knock down to be successful. So I’m cautiously optimistic we can take this team all the way. Game 1 ✅

Work smarter 🧠⚡️ I’ve been playing with band assisted jumps quite a bit lately, they’re lower impact and can be done by both emphasizing power or even as pogos to really work on elasticity. Either way they do a great job of improving your rate of force development which helps you explode faster and higher. Try these during your next vertical jump or plyometric workout!

Make the simple things work for YOU. It feels like there’s so much misinformation on social media; people telling you not to lift, not to squat, or move a certain way. But in reality, especially with explosive elite athletes, being strong, fast, explosive and skilled is what takes it to the next level. So do those things right, and you’ll start hitting dunks you never thought you could have.
