Happy September, we are just 91 days away from the December 1st trail opening!

We are getting ready to complete brushing and signing on the other 3 sections of our 160mile trail system, trail 19 was completed in August. We are planning to start on the South section of trail 3 in Newaygo County Saturday, September 12th beginning by 8 Mile road and heading south to the Newaygo Sports Park trail head.

We are in need of volunteers to help build brushing and signing crews so we can make quick work of the projects. Once again this year, we will supply trail side lunch and cold refreshments while working. We will also be giving a 2027 snowmobile trail permit to those volunteers that put in 16 hours of work with a limit of 2 permits per person for 32 hours of volunteer work.

We are also planning on putting together crews for Saturday September 19th and 26th. Let’s build some big crews and get all the work done in September! More details to come in the coming days.

8/8 brushing update: A special thanks goes to the six volunteers that showed up for pole sawing and signing Saturday on trail 19 from Candy Cane Lane West to the locked gates. They all earned 9.5 hours towards their snowmobile trail permits. Dan L. and David V., installed signs and cleared the way, in case anything came down, clearing the way for the pole saw crew. Dan and David did have to clear a large tree in one of the gated sections, which fell since Thursday. Alan H,, Alan P., Mark B., and Mike S. worked the pole saw trailer. We had a nice lunch with variety of cold cuts and nice dinner rolls from Ebels in Reed City along with ice cold drinks and chips. We will not need any volunteers for the next Saturday August 15th. We were able to finish that section of trail 19 early this year. After labor day, we will start up again on the other 3 trails. Please watch for dates and times, or call one of the board members for information.

8/03 Update: club president Dan spent several days in the last week working on brushing trail 19 with the JD 6R195 and moving downed trees with the grapple on our Case 140. We are ready for some high brushing with pole saws this Saturday August 8th and some sign work. We plan to meet at the barn at 8am and spend most of the day out there and hopefully get most of the work done in that section of trail 19. We are still in need of volunteers to help us out. Please reach out here or directly to Dan or one of our board members if you are able to help. Once again this year we will have food and beverages included while working. We also will be giving out trail permits we purchased to those that put in some time helping out. 16 hours of volunteer work will get you 1 trail permit and 32 will get you 2 (maximum of 2 trail permits per person)!

Volunteers are needed Saturday August 8th. We will be beginning our brushing and signing work on trail 19 near the candy cane lane warming shack. We are in need of volunteers to help build a crew or preferably 2 crews so we can make a lot of progress with brushing and signing the same day. We will meet at the groomer barn at 8am in Baldwin or we can make arrangements for people to meet us at the staging area near candy cane lane. Food and beverages will be provided to all who come to help. Please reach out to us here or directly to our club president Dan if you are able to help. We are hoping to get most of the work done on the 8th but we are planning on August 15th as well to finish up if needed. Thanks, TRSC.

7/24 Update: We could use some help tomorrow Saturday 7/25 and possibly Sunday 7/26 moving equipment from Baldwin to candy cane lane to stage for upcoming brush work. If anyone is interested and available reach out to our president Dan or message us here on Facebook. We will likely be trying to head out from the barn by 9AM tomorrow. Thanks!

7/22 Brushing update: Trail 30 from Baldwin to Reed City has been brushed with our JD 6R 195 and Diamond brusher. Our president Dan spent a total of 12.5 hours over the last couple of days getting it completed. There is still a little high brushing needed with pole saws and some sign work that will be completed later in the fall. We will now be moving to trail 19 out near candy cane lane to complete work on some of private sections out there that have to be done before September 1st. We will be posting dates that we will be needing extra volunteers to help.

7/19 Update: We will begin our early season brushing starting this week with our diamond brush cutter on our JD 6R 195. We will be starting on trail 30 (rail trail) from Baldwin to Reed
City. Bikers and walkers along that trail use caution and look out for debris along the trail that may be there for a bit until we can get through to remove it.

7/18: we had a good group of volunteers who ran 2 tractors and the club truck with brushing trailer in the Troutarama. All went well and a lot of candy and TRSC stickers were given out. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped get ready for the parade over the last several weeks and the cookout following. Here are some pictures from before and during the parade.
