Dennis and I had a solid day on the river with one more to go! 🎣😎 (Primarily on Thundersticks, but some did drop bobbers with skein in the high sun at the very end.)

Here’s just a couple of many that came to hand for us today, but we had more than our share of exciting yet memorable heartbreaks as well… 🤷‍♂️😅

We’ve still got some great guide openings at BBT that are available to the first caller and I’ve still got the 3rd and 9th set aside in my personal calendar for any of my repeat clients that might like to come up… (231) 745-3529

John R and I finished off our Lake Michigan charters for this season on Saturday night with a super fun great group of guys and a nice flurry of solid action at dusk & dark! (Best three from the box shown here with a fair hold; some of the others were smaller “skippers” or, a “fish sammich” as we say! 😅👍)

We are headed back over there today, but just to prep the boat for winter storage and then it’s back to the river for us thru next spring!! 👍🎣😎

We actually have a very rare 3 boat group trip opportunity that came available right in prime time so if anyone is interested it’s on Sunday, September 13th! 🤷‍♂️ (I will make an exception to my personal “repeat clients only” rule for Salmon for a two or three boat group on that day.)

My only other early openings are Thursday the 3rd or Wednesday, the 9th, but those dates are reserved for repeat clients, some shop time or just a fun and/or relaxing day off … 🙄😅

We also have either one or two guides (John K & John R) open to the first caller for September 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th and three on the 13th as stated…

(10:22am EDIT! John K just got booked for the 13th so it’s just two boats available now. Same exception for a two boat group. 👍😎)

Fishing has been pretty steady and fairly solid downriver for a little while now on most days so grab a date if you can and get in on that action! (231) 745-3529 8am to 6pm (for now) to make a motel or guide reservation.

Have tons of fun, be safe and play nice out there when you can; it’s supposed to be a good time for all and I’d love to have it that way! 🇺🇸😎🎣👍🦅

PS. The shop is full up with stock and we’ve got everything you’ll need (or maybe just want) to fly, spin, pin or float fish… (Skein, lures, nymphs and streamers all in one place! The only “pure” thing about us is the fun!! 😎👊)

John R and I did an am shift in our other office this morning out of Manistee and “might” just turn around to do the evening shift again here depending on what the weather decides to do… (Looking good so far, more on that in my next fishbaldwin.com report if we do go out!)

It wasn’t “on fire” like some ports have been (at least not early today) but we faired about the same as the many other boats we spoke with back at the Marina besides having our share that got off including a crazy quad rodeo early on. 🙄😳😅

Super fun regardless! The guys had a great time, all took fish home and said they would be back. Obviously this is a “good hold” (and photo angle from the fly bridge) on this King, but she was legitimately a solid specimen and the biggest in our box this morning. (Got a couple Steelhead also for good measure…) 🎣

We’re pretty busy on the river from here on out (still a few great openings with a couple of our guides and reports are of solid action down low this morning😉) so the big boat is getting put up already after this very short season.

That being said, she’ll be back in the water for the 1st of May thru all of August in 2027 and you can make reservations for a charter with us anytime during the year for dates in that time frame…

Well… My face hurts today and if I smile too big for a while I’ll be sporting that hillbilly look, but the surgery went well and I’m back at it tomorrow!

(Couldn’t believe my oral surgeon had never heard the joke about the tooth brush being invented in a certain southern state before… It had to be invented there, otherwise they’d have called it the teeth brush! 😜 It’s good to laugh at yourself once in a while… 🙄😅)

Here’s a couple of shots out of several from Thursday’s trip; My single angler Evan did great work! I’ve still got a couple of early season downriver dates available for any of my repeat clients (3rd & 9th) and our other guides have some scattered openings that are open for one and all!

The river may be low and clear at the moment, but the shop is starting to fill up with all your fall salmon needs: beads, lures, floats, yarn, flies, rods, weights, etc. More stuff arriving all the time. Get Ready!!!
