It feels like forever since I’ve been on the river it’s been so long, but I’ve had plenty going on (laid up with some surgery, working on some projects, etc.) just none of it has been on the Pere Marquette recently.

That will soon change as I am out on trips 3 of the next 4 four nights and I’ll then have something to report afterwards! 😎👍

This is not a fishing related post, but when I find a good company with excellent & friendly service I feel almost obligated to share that with our own customers…

Luckily for Mr John Robinson (And I 😅😉) the fine folks over at Baker GMC in Hudsonville had a little bit of “misleading” advertising going on so after driving him 90 miles to purchase a truck today then having them try to tack on another 8k beyond what he had planned on spending we simply walked away from that mess and then wound up making a great deal, within the budget, on a much better vehicle at Fox GMC in Greenville on the way home… 😎 (A 2025 GMC Sierra Elevation w/low miles)

But wait!! There’s more… 🙄 I was so impressed with the great folks there at Fox GMC that I went ahead and bought my wife a new (to her) ride while we were at it so they got a double sale from someone who blew it on a single! (A Red 2025 Ford Escape ST-Line Select w/low miles. This is to replace her 2005 Kia Sportage that served her very well, but is now on its very last leg… 👍😎)

Anyway, this is not fishing related for sure, but if you happen go to the pre-owned lot there in Greenville talk to David Pusczak and tell him John and Steve sent ya! 🛻 (616) 548-6797 [email protected]

Update! May 30th... Mystery Solved! Thank you Dennis!

To the now “mystery man” who gifted me all of these wonderful new items to donte to whatever charity I felt fit… Please contact me!

(I would really like to give credit where credit is due and our Facebook Messenger conversations have somehow vanished! 😳)

I did get the impression you just wanted me to donate these items in my own name (or the shops) and if that’s the case no worries, but I would still like to confirm that and unfortunately, I was not smart enough to take note of your name outside of those messages thinking I could always go back to it for reference… 🥲

I sincerely hope you are well and really do appreciate it! Thank you also for the kind words about my writing over the past 29 or so years and just so you know, I have decided to try and split these items between PMTU (Pere Marquette Chapter of Trout Unlimited) and the PMWC (Pere Marquette Watershed Council.)

If any of this looks good to any of you out there reading this they will be available at auction during these organizations banquets and the proceeds will definitely be going to a good cause! 😎👍🎣👊

Update!! So far as I know all of the river obstructions have now been cleared once again, but I also heard a rumor that there was a new one in the upper fly water down… (Can anyone confirm?)

Anyway, I’m giving Jimmy an overdue day off today and making a special guest appearance in the shop! (I may be in and out a little bit as John here is quite capable and working with me.) That being said, we are still looking for additional team members here at BBT if you or anyone you know might enjoy that vibe… It’s a pretty cool job really!

Heads up‼️ John just sent us a warning from the river:

“Don’t float Mac to rainbow…big cluster of trees down. It took me 2 hours to cut barely enough to drag my boat through there. I told Troy and I think he might take care of it tomorrow?🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s the upstream view after I got through…”

The latest update is that Troy from Baldwin Canoe Rental will be cutting it tomorrow and the USFS is going to go thru another big section below it. We will let you know when we know that it’s been cleared for sure…
