Girls' varsity flag football teams at Saint Thomas Aquinas, Osawatomie, and Baldwin made history Wednesday night, playing the sport's first games as an officially sanctioned KSHSAA activity in Kansas.

The DOG WALK- a tradition started last year where the team and coaches walk down the alley of Liston Stadium as they exit the bus to cheering fans and families.

WHEN- 5:30 before every home game

WHERE- the corner of 2nd and Fremont

WHO- players, coaches, cheerleaders, students, families and community

THE CROWD- Fans line the alley wearing purple to high five and cheer on the team

📣🐾💜🤍Exciting Announcement 💜🤍🐾📣

We're excited to officially announce the first-ever Baldwin Youth Athletics (BYA) 🏀Basketball Season🏀for boys and girls in 1st through 6th grade. Following the success of our summer basketball camp, we're looking forward to expanding opportunities for young athletes in our community this winter.

Pre-registration is NOW OPEN and will run through September 15. There is no cost to pre-register, as our goal is to gauge interest by grade and gender so we can determine which teams and age groups we will offer this season.

As part of pre-registration, we will hold evaluation practices for players in 3rd through 6th grade on the following dates:
• September 18 at the Intermediate Center: 3rd/4th grade from 5:30–7:00 p.m. and 5th/6th grade from 7:00–8:30 p.m.
• September 20 at the Primary Center: 3rd/4th grade from 1:00–2:30 p.m. and 5th/6th grade from 2:30–4:00 p.m.

These sessions will allow us to assess skill levels and overall interest while giving families more information about the upcoming season. If your child can make both sessions for their age group, great. If your child can only make one of the sessions that is also fine. If your child is interested in playing but cannot attend an evaluation, please still complete pre-registration so we can include them in our planning. Players in 1st and 2nd grade do not need to attend an evaluation practice.

For grades and divisions with sufficient interest and skill levels, season registration will open September 28 and close October 12. Registration fees are expected to range from $175 to $325, depending on age level and team structure.

Practices will begin in late October (late November for 1st/2nd grade) and will be held in Baldwin City, while games will be played at locations outside of Baldwin.

More details regarding teams, schedules, and season expectations will be shared as we move through the pre-registration process.

🐾🏈Building Connections on the Field!🏈🐾

Yesterday's practice was extra ✨special✨. Our Bulldog Flag Football Girls got to meet their BHS Girls Flag Buddies! We are incredibly excited about this partnership. It is a fantastic opportunity for our young athletes to learn from high school players, and for the BHS girls to step up as mentors.

Thank you to everyone who made this connection possible. We can't wait to see these bonds grow throughout the season!

Big things happen when girls support girls on and off the field! 💪🐾

💜🐾🏈 TACKLE FOOTBALL DEBUT! 💜🐾🏈

Our 3rd and 4th grade boys stepped onto the field for their first real tackle action tonight. Santa Fe Trail hosted a preseason jamboree featuring Santa Fe Trail, Shawnee Heights and Baldwin.

After working through some early first “game” jitters, the team settled right in. Most importantly, the boys had a blast playing together and gave 100% effort on every single play.

Their teamwork and outstanding support for one another on the field was absolutely top-notch!

Looking Ahead: These boys are ready to learn, grow, and improve as they head into their first official season game! 💪😤
