SVXC RUNNER VAN LEININGER PLACES 49TH AT IHSAA GOLF STATE FINALS

Springs Valley's Van Leininger proved he is talented in more than one sport, finishing 49th at the 2026 IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals. Leininger became the first Springs Valley boys golfer to qualify for the state finals in 60 years and is believed to be the first Springs Valley cross country athlete to ever advance to the golf state finals.

Competing against the state's top golfers, Leininger carded rounds of 80 and 77 for a two-day total of 157, earning a tie for 49th place overall.

Van's historic state finals appearance adds another impressive achievement to his athletic career and brought recognition and honor to the Springs Valley golf program, cross country team, and school community.

Congratulations, Van, on an outstanding season and a remarkable accomplishment! We are very proud of you!!

SEITZ'S SIGNS WITH OREGON, WINS GATORADE'S 'INDIANA XC RUNNER OF THE YEAR'!!!

February has already been a banner month for junior runner Calvin Seitz. He committed to run at the University of Oregon, was named Gatorade's Indiana Runner of the Year and received a trophy for winning the 2025 Indiana State XC Championship! (The IHSAA doesn't give individual champion trophies so we had one made!!)(Approved by the IHSAA of course!)

Coach Derek Freeman said of Calvin's latest achievements, "It's just another example to the athlete that Calvin is. It is a testament to his diligent work ethic. He has a relentless passion for this sport and I think it's so cool to see him rewarded with an award of this stature. Then you add in him signing with one of the top distance programs in America. Just wow! It shows how elite he is and the type of talent and potential he has. To have his pick of the top programs in America who were pursuing him is such a blessing. I love to see his investment in the sport of running continue to pay off in a big way.
