SEITZ'S SIGNS WITH OREGON, WINS GATORADE'S 'INDIANA XC RUNNER OF THE YEAR'!!!

February has already been a banner month for junior runner Calvin Seitz. He committed to run at the University of Oregon, was named Gatorade's Indiana Runner of the Year and received a trophy for winning the 2025 Indiana State XC Championship! (The IHSAA doesn't give individual champion trophies so we had one made!!)(Approved by the IHSAA of course!)

Coach Derek Freeman said of Calvin's latest achievements, "It's just another example to the athlete that Calvin is. It is a testament to his diligent work ethic. He has a relentless passion for this sport and I think it's so cool to see him rewarded with an award of this stature. Then you add in him signing with one of the top distance programs in America. Just wow! It shows how elite he is and the type of talent and potential he has. To have his pick of the top programs in America who were pursuing him is such a blessing. I love to see his investment in the sport of running continue to pay off in a big way.

Congrats to Calvin for his amazing 8th place, 2nd team All-American finish today at the Brooks XC Finals.

Coach Derek Freeman who accompanied Calvin to San Diego said, Anytime you finish in the top 1% of the XC runners in the nation and put yourself in position to win it’s a good day. He did everything he needed to do to have a chance. I’m so proud of the way he represented himself, our school, community and the entire state of Indiana today”.

Now Calvin will get a few days off, then turn his attention to preparing for the track and field season.

Way to go Calvin! We are so proud of you!

Calvin Seitz had an awesome pre race day at the famed Balboa Park XC course in San Diego where he will race for the Brooks National XC High School Championship on Saturday. He spent the day at the course and the Athlete’s Village with the other athletes as they prepare for one of the biggest events of their young careers.

The race will feature a rematch between Calvin and state runner up Noah Bontrager who Calvin edged out for the Indiana state title 6 weeks ago.

The Cross Country winter conditioners took the annual run from the school up Mt Airy to the Pete Dye Golf Course and back in celebration of Coach Todd Marshall’s birthday! Regardless of your age, that trip is “over the hill”! Happy birthday, Coach. Thank you for letting us celebrate with you again this year!
