Bathroom and Shower Update:

A few months ago this was just an open space in the back of an old retail store and then it got framed and the sheet rock went in. Now we have painted walls, interior design, doors, and plumbing set up. It’s all coming together. It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day mess of a construction zone, but photos and videos like these remind us how much progress actually happens and how much closer we are getting to opening our doors.

Bakersfield, we’ve got something for you!

Grit Valley Climbing is opening soon — a bouldering gym purpose built for this community, designed for first-timers and seasoned climbers alike. Here’s a little about us and what we’re building for you: a space to push your limits, learn something new, have fun and connect with people who love this sport and city as much as we do.

We can’t wait to bring this to Bakersfield. Follow along as we share the build progress.

We wish we could snap our fingers and open our doors to you today… But construction doesn’t work that way! Here’s where we REALLY are: sub-flooring is in, electrical and HVAC are underway, and doors are being installed. Still a few months out, but we’re getting closer every day. Thanks for your patience — it’ll be worth the wait!

Can you guess what we’re putting in this space?👀

A KILTER BOARD

For those who haven’t climbed on one before, a Kilter Board is an interactive training wall with LED-lit holds controlled through the Kilter Board app. Climbers can choose from thousands of problems across all skill levels, create their own climbs, and train power, technique, and movement in a whole new way.

These photos show a beautiful bouldering gym built by Dreamwall . While this isn’t Grit Valley Climbing, it gives a glimpse of the kind of thoughtful design and climbing experience we’re working toward.

Dreamwall is the team helping bring Grit Valley Climbing to life in downtown Bakersfield, and we couldn’t be more excited about what we’re building together.

Soon these empty walls will be filled with movement, creativity, problem-solving, and a community that grows stronger with every climb.
