Choy Lee Fut Bakersfield We are a martial arts training studio which teaches the Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu style founded by Chan H He became a Choy Lee Fut practitioner in 1992.

Golden Lion Studios, owned by Sifu Roman Ruiz, a student of Grandmaster Fu Hang Ng who is 5th generation descendant of Chan Heung. (Founder of Choy Lee Fut)

Sifu Roman Ruiz started studying martial arts in the late 1970’s. His instructor, Master Fu Hang Ng, (see above). is a fifth generation descendant of the founder Chang Heung. Sifu Roman believes strongly that the (essential spirit of Choy Le

e Fut is in remembering its origin and holding onto its tradition). This shows throughout his teachings which include forms, Chinese weaponry, fighting skills, lion dancing, tai chi and even tea ceremonies. Sifu Roman has competed in tournaments locally and in such cities as San Jose, San Francisco and New York allowing him to build good relationships with other martial art practitioners from a variety of different styles. This has resulted in forming a strong network of martial art practitioners from around the world. Sifu Roman’s visit to the city of King Mui, the birth place of Choy Lee Fut, in China has given him a strong respect for this art and the intention for which it was founded. Sifu Roman was appointed the Vice President of the Choy Lee Federation of U.S.A. on 08/04/2002 by Master Fu Hang Ng with the intention of expanding the federation and its art throughout the United States. It saddens me to share that one of my favorite people of all time, Chan Kit Fong has passed. She was the daughter of Chan Yui Chi. She was 103 years old, lived a long fruitful life and had many friends around the world.

She will be missed by all Choy Lee Fut practitioners. My heart felt prayers go out to her family and my Sifu, Grand Master Fu Hang Ng.

It was an honor to have Golden Lion Studios perform for Grand Master Fu Hung Ng at his 80th Birthday Party in Monterey Park, CA. Sue (his wife) and Ms. Chan Kit Fong (his mother) and many others were in attendance as well.

This was a rare occasion and definitely an experience to remember.

On Saturday, September 16, we had a great time as 3 students tested for their Color Sash.

We want to congratulate Viva Au, for achieving her Orange Sash and also her daughter, Waverly Reifka, who achieved her Blue Sash. A special congratulations as well to Karina Vasquez, for achieving her Blue Sash.

It is my pleasure seeing the growth and maturity of each student. Way to go! We are looking forward to your next level.
