Bainbridge Island Rowing Bainbridge Island Rowing is a community-based, non-profit 501c(3) organization, founded in January 2001. BIR is a member of USRowing, Northwest Region.

Our purpose is to promote all facets of the sport of rowing. BIR activities take place at Waterfront Park on Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island and throughout the greater Puget Sound area. Our goals are to:

* Introduce the public at large to the sport of rowing

* Provide rowing, training, and related programs for high school students and adults, novice and experienced rowers, from Bainbridge Island and throughout Kitsap County.

* Provide coaching and education for rowers, coxswains, and others interested in supporting BIR

* Provide training for local, regional, and national rowing competition. Participation in Bainbridge Island Rowing is open to anyone interested in rowing or in supporting crew on Bainbridge and throughout the greater Kitsap area. Our success as an organization depends in large part on the involvement and volunteer efforts of our members, who are expected to contribute by joining committees and work parties. A strong day of racing for our juniors at American Lake — grit, teamwork, and great early‑season speed across all squads.

Novice Boys stepped up with confidence and accountability, earning standout results including 1st in the Novice 8+ and 1st & 2nd in the Novice 4+.

Novice Girls showed incredible resilience as conditions got spicy, supporting one another and racing with heart — and five athletes brought home silver medals in their first regatta.

Varsity Girls battled the wind, raced 10K across two events, and backed each other all day. Huge kudos to our coxswains for elite steering and leadership.

Varsity Boys delivered composed, competitive racing and showed the strength of the work they’ve been putting in this fall. They handled the conditions well, executed their race plans, and set a solid tone for the season. Thank you for all the pics!

🌊 Barge Party to Pritchard Park
A super fun, beginner‑friendly row across the harbor that ends with a private beach party for 16. Limited seats.

🌅 Hood Canal Field Trip
A long‑distance open‑water adventure for experienced adult rowers. Sweep + sculling options.

Both are limited and scheduled for Summer 2027.

If you can’t make it to our in‑person auction on November 7, this is a perfect way to support BIR. The online auction is open now through November 6, and you can share it with friends and family near and far.

BIR hit the water in Seattle this past weekend for Tail of the Lake — fog, seaplanes, and plenty of boat traffic included.

Our juniors showed up strong:
• Varsity Boys 4+ — 7th in a stacked field, finishing in 14:48
• Varsity Girls 4+ — 4th place finish, beating their goal time by nearly 30 seconds

Adult crews brought the energy too, with silver finishes, spicy ship‑canal racing, seaplane wake and even a gold‑by‑fine‑print win for our novice women’s 4x.

A classic Seattle day — fog, wakes, and big smiles all around. 💙
