* Introduce the public at large to the sport of rowing

* Provide rowing, training, and related programs for high school students and adults, novice and experienced rowers, from Bainbridge Isla

nd and throughout Kitsap County.

* Provide coaching and education for rowers, coxswains, and others interested in supporting BIR

* Provide training for local, regional, and national rowing competition. Participation in Bainbridge Island Rowing is open to anyone interested in rowing or in supporting crew on Bainbridge and throughout the greater Kitsap area. Our success as an organization depends in large part on the involvement and volunteer efforts of our members, who are expected to contribute by joining committees and work parties. 25 Years of BIR: Chapple’s Unexpected Journey

“Rowing planted itself at the back of my mind,” Chapple told us. Years later, BIR helped her turn that spark into a whole new chapter of confidence, community, and joy on the water. Her story reminds us that it’s never too late to begin something unexpected.

On Bainbridge Island, community support is part of who we are — and Bainbridge Island Rowing is proud to offer programs that bring people together on the water, from ages 13 to 91.

This year, we’re opening up new sponsorship levels that give local businesses a chance to be part of the moments that define our rowing community. From Oktoberfest to Mahjong at the boathouse, youth and adult programs, and all the gatherings that make BIR a hub of connection, sponsors help make it all possible.

If your business believes in supporting a healthy, active, intergenerational community, we’d love to partner with you. Explore sponsorship opportunities — link in bio.

Help us power the coaches who power our athletes.
We’ve applied for a $13,000 grant through the Bainbridge Community Foundation to replace our aging coaching motors — but we can’t do it without your help.

Motors make practice possible. Without them, we’re all just standing on the beach with great intentions.

Please donate through the campaign, where community volunteers have vetted and approved all applications — so you can support a cause you love and know it has strong community backing. Every dollar comes directly to BIR.

Give now by June 12 at www.BainbridgeGives.org. Link in our bio and in our story to give today!

BIR is headed to Nationals! 💙🤍💛

Four BIR boats earned qualifying results for the USRowing Youth National Championships — and we are thrilled to share that THREE boats will be representing Bainbridge Island next month in Sarasota, FL.

While this is an extraordinary honor, we need your help! The financial burden of traveling to Nationals is significant — and comes with very little notice. Travel, lodging, equipment transport, and regatta fees add up quickly, and we want to ensure that cost is never a barrier for our athletes.

We are asking our BIR community to help offset the cost of sending these rowers to Nationals and lighten the load for their families. Every contribution, large or small, makes a meaningful difference.

These junior rowers have trained relentlessly and earned the opportunity to compete against the best youth crews in the nation. They will depart on Monday, June 8th carrying the pride and support of their entire BIR community. Congrats, girls!

We love having community gatherings at our Boat House venue. In May we had some beautiful events for both and also that brought out our neighbors and friends. If you’ve been looking for the perfect place to host your event, come take a look at our stunning space that’s nestled right by the water in Winslow.

Regionals did not disappoint.

With 635 entries from 28 different clubs, the racing was deep and competitive from start to finish. Friday alone brought 33 time trial races, and the whole weekend delivered sun, wind, rain, and even lightning that forced delays and cancellations. Through all of it, our BIR juniors showed grit, composure, and strong racing in Vancouver, Washington.

They came home with great performances across the board and several top finishes:

Men’s U16 4x+ — 3rd
Men’s Youth 2V 2– — 1st and 3rd
Men’s Youth 3V4+ — 1st
Men’s Youth Novice 4+ — 1st
Men’s Youth 4x — 4th
Men’s 2V 4+ — 6th (time trial results, final cancelled due to lightning)
Open Gender 2x — 3rd
Women’s U17 1x — 3rd
Women’s U17 2x — 4th
Women’s Youth 2– — 3rd
Women’s Youth Novice 4+ — 3rd (time trial results, final cancelled due to lightning)
Women’s Youth Novice 4x+ — 1st (time trial results, final cancelled due to lightning)

A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who made the weekend possible. The Regatta Kitchen kept our athletes well fed, the chaperones and travel coordinators made sure everyone got where they needed to be and stayed safe, and the volunteers supporting the regatta helped keep everything running smoothly.

Proud of every athlete who raced through the chaos and kept their heads in the boat. Next up: Summer rowing, sunshine, and everything ahead 💙
