Oh my! Spring is the time of year when everything starts to grow again . . . . grass, weeds, hooves, and hair! Everywhere I look there is something needing attention here on the farm, but thankfully horses are more tolerant than people! As long as they have hay and water they are happy. Today has been the worst day yet for deer flies, however. I need to spray all my 'girls and guys' with insect repellent so they can hang out in peace.

My upcoming book is just about to hit the stores . . . . FINALLY! Actually, I am still in the process of final review for cover and final manuscript edit, but the publisher has assured me that we're almost there! It is a candid window into the life of ANYone who may be remotely interested in the life of those who love and involve themselves with horses. There is so much to consider when one chooses to pursue their 'horse dream'. I hope my friends and fellow horse lovers will get a 'kick' (that's sort of a horse pun!) out of reading about some of my personal equine 'errors', and that you will learn from MY mistakes rather than through experience! Please SHARE my posts as they relate to this book project. I am told not to post the actual book title until it is ready for purchase . . . . It's a big 'ole secret I guess! My equine book is in editing as I write this, and based on the timeline provided by my publisher I will have actual copies in hand by early May! FINALLY!!!!! Please help me promote it with ANYONE who has an interest in horses. You will be able to read about all my mistakes as they relate to the purchase of my horses over the years . . . . beginning with the horse Daddy bought me as a child. My goal in writing this is to provide a 'What NOT to do', as well as lots of info regarding 'What TO do' if you or anyone in your family is considering an equine hobby or business. Horses tend to be a 'way of life', affecting everything from personal relationships to bank accounts to leisure time - of which there is very little! The tentative title is 'Common Sense for Horses & Horse Sense for Humans' . . . . but don't try to locate it yet, as it will likely not be available to the general public until late June. EXCITING!!!!!

Vickie Bass and I attended a Robbie Potter Horsemanship clinic in Statesville, NC this past week-end. It was great; located at Zion Farm near Stony Point. Although we were not able to take horses to participate in the clinic there was much to be learned from auditing the clinic. I always learn something when I 'study' horses and their interactions with and reactions to humans! I never cease to be amazed!
