Every Summer Run practice ends the same way - with a few minutes to reflect, record the day's run, and get ready for the next one.

Looking back through those pages at the end of the session is a great reminder that progress doesn't happen all at once, it happens one day at a time.

One of the questions we get most often is whether runners can participate in NDRC while also being involved in other activities.

Absolutely.

Many of our runners balance running with dance, music, soccer, swimming, and other interests throughout the year.

Summer Run is designed to help kids stay active, build confidence, and make friends. For some athletes, it's part of their preparation for cross country season. For others, it's simply a fun way of being active during the summer.

The evening schedule also works well for many families balancing summer camps, vacations, and those other activities.

📍 Summer Run Location Spotlight: Duke East Campus

Whether we're cruising through laps on the soft crushed gravel path along the East Campus wall, doing drills on the grass lawn, playing games, or just catching up before practice, it's a place where a lot of great memories have been made over the years.

One of our favorite parts of Summer Run is getting to explore some of the best places to run in Durham. From Duke East Campus to Forest Hills, Al Buehler, Little River, and beyond, each location brings something a little different and helps keep every week fresh and fun.

Big weekend for Ellie at the Carolina Distance Carnival!

She came in ready to compete and walked away with PRs in TWO events! 11:56 in the 3200m and 5:38 in the mile.

Her consistency, focus, and trust in the process paid off huge. We're so proud of you

Grateful for the opportunity to compete at the Carolina Distance Carnival this weekend. 🎪🎡

This crew represented well in a strong middle school mile field that brought athletes from all over to compete. These are the kinds of races that challenge us, teach us, and help us grow, even when the results don’t go exactly how we want them to.

Not every step can be a PR, but every step counts. Such a great experience and another step forward for this group.
