Church at the Field
Many players and families will be at the ballfield all day today. Some will be in a church building, while others will be at a tournament. Does that mean you can’t have church?
The Greek word for church is ekklesia, which means an assembly or gathering of people called together. The church is not ultimately a building—it’s God’s people gathering in the name of Christ.
Now, that doesn’t mean we should neglect gathering with our local church family when we are able (Hebrews 10:25). But if you’re at the field today, you can still worship God.
Before the first pitch, gather your team or family and pray.
Between games, open God’s Word and read a passage together.
Encourage a teammate who is struggling.
Thank God for the opportunity to compete.
After the game, win or lose, give Him the glory.
If a group of believers gathers at the field to worship, pray, encourage one another, and focus on Christ, they are experiencing something that reflects the meaning of ekklesia—God’s people assembled together.
Today, whether you’re in a sanctuary or a dugout, remember:
The church isn’t the building. The church is the people.
“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” — Matthew 18:20
⚾❤️ If you’re spending your Sunday at the ballfield, take a moment to have “Church at the Field.” Gather, pray, worship, and keep Christ at the center of your day.
Drop a ❤️ if you’ll be at the field today, and comment “Amen” if you’re thankful that God meets us wherever we are.
