After almost 25 years in business we have decided to close our doors. This was not an easy decision, as we have thoroughly enjoyed our coworkers, customers and industry partners who helped make HIB what it is. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the years. Your loyalty, kindness, and encouragement have meant the world to us.

We know that many of you have made our annual Black Friday sale a traditional stop during the holidays, and we hope to see you for our final big sale - 50% off the entire store (except new surfboards - $100 off), deals on rental kayaks/paddleboards/surfboards and more. We have already started the sale, and it will continue when we reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Black Friday.

The store will remain open through Sunday December 7, and the current sale will run through the final day. If you have outstanding gift cards, or questions, please feel free to call, message, or stop in on us—we’re here to help.

It's the announcement you've all been waiting for! Dare county is starting a phased re-entry for Hatteras Island and re-opening of N.C. 12 starting at Noon TODAY! Here's how it will work:

At noon today, residents, property owners, and workers can access NC12 at the Basnight Bridge.

A 5 a.m. Sunday, all restrictions will be lifted. Visitors can access NC12 at that time.

Keep in mind, the highway will still have areas of sand and water on it. Please drive with extreme caution in all areas of Pea and Hatteras Islands.

Well, the season officially started today because we caught our 1st shoplifters of the year! Cops called, parents called, teenage girls in tears. Gonna be a tough week if they are starting out their vacation like this! Don’t be like them! Come to Hatteras, enjoy the amazing beach/shopping/surf/food that Hatteras has to offer, be a decent human being, and go home without a criminal record! Sounds simple enough to us!! We look forward to seeing all of those looking for THAT kind of vacation! Big thanks to Dare County Sheriff's Office for your handling of the situation.
