1. Tell Us about Yourself:
My name is Jamie Birkle. My husband is Ken, and we have three grown children. I’m a Senior Improvement Leader in the Office of Operational Excellence at IU Health Academic Health. In my free time, I enjoy boating, swimming, working out at Notch 8, & spending time with family & friends.
2. How long have I been at Notch 8? Since January of 2025
3. What is something you love about Notch 8?
The coaches are incredibly supportive & truly meet you where you are, making every workout feel approachable and personalized. I also really appreciate the flexibility in class options—being able to take both CrossFit and Burn classes has made a huge difference in my fitness journey and overall progress.
4. What is your favorite movement or WOD?
I really enjoy barbell work—lifting weights is still fairly new to me, so I love learning something new about it every day. My favorite class is the Friday night 6 PM“El Groupo” Burn class. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the week!
5. What is your favorite Notch 8 Memory?
Last year during the Friday 6 PM “El Groupo” class, we all wore Coach Chris face tattoos to celebrate his birthday. The workout was so much fun, and afterward we kept the celebration going with Mexican food, drinks, and great CrossFit community bonding.
6. What advice would you give to a new member or someone hesitant to try CrossFit?
I’d say don’t let intimidation or fear hold you back from trying Notch 8. It’s an incredibly supportive gym with great coaching & an amazing group of members. The community is there to help you set & achieve your fitness goals, and along the way you’ll build some great friendships. The best part is that CrossFit is designed for everyone—every workout can be scaled to match your current fitness level. You don’t need to be “in shape” before you start. From my own experience, real progress comes from consistently showing up, not from being the strongest or fastest in every workout.
