CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM!!- A developing Super El Niño could bring several positive impacts to Colorado during the summer of 2026. Meteorologists expect increased moisture across parts of the Central Rockies, which may enhance the summer monsoon season and provide much-needed rainfall after several years of drought. The added precipitation could improve streamflows, support healthier forests and rangelands, benefit agriculture, and create better conditions for trout fisheries and other outdoor recreation opportunities. While weather patterns remain variable, many climatologists see the transition away from La Niña and toward El Niño as a reason for optimism, with a greater chance for cooler periods, more frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and improved water supplies across portions of the state. May 30 fishing reports for Vail/Roaring Fork valley's. The wet, cooler May has been a blessing for our rivers up here! The monsoons are hopefully going to extend well into the summer thanks to the El Nino weather pattern that has moved into the region. While the nymphing and streamer fishing has been most productive, the dry fly fishing should start picking up real soon. Check out the reports in the comments.
