BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS! The Aviston Aces Walk It Off To Secure Second Straight Title Over The Miners!

There is no sweeter way to cement a dynasty than with walk-off heroics! The Aviston Aces claimed their second consecutive league title in dramatic fashion on Saturday, edging out the Miners 3-2 in a bottom-of-the-ninth thriller to complete the series sweep and go back-to-back as Champions!

With the game deadlocked at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Brent Timmons etched his name into team lore by launching a deep sacrifice fly, driving home the championship-winning run and triggering a wild celebration in the field.

The Aviston Aces broke a scoreless duel in the fourth when Carter Truong lined an RBI single to put Aviston up 1-0. Trenton answered back in the top of the fifth, scratching across a run on a wild pitch to knot the game at one. Aviston quickly reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the fifth when Timmons wore a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 2-1.

The Miners refused to go down quietly, using a dramatic solo home run to right field by Owen Szpila in the top of the ninth to tie the game at two and set up Timmons' final heroics.

Pitching dominated the afternoon on both sides. The Aviston Aces’ ace Reed Braundmeier was virtually unhittable, surrendering just two hits and zero earned runs over eight stellar innings while fanning seven and walking none. His clutch performance on Saturday capped off a legendary campaign, as Braundmeier officially took home the league’s Pitcher of the Year award!

Ty Kueper came on in relief to shut the door in the ninth and earn the victory. Brady Maltbie went the distance for Trenton, allowing 10 hits and three runs over eight and two-thirds innings.

Aviston's offense pounded out 10 hits in the contest. Leading the charge was Chase Lewis, who went 3-for-4 on the day to officially put the exclamation point on his sensational season as the league's Batting Champion! Austin Rakers, Truong, and Griffin Thomas each collected multiple hits in the victory.

Thanks to his non-stop clutch hitting and steady play throughout the entire title run, Griffin Thomas was named Playoff MVP!

Bottom Of The Lineup Carries The Aviston Aces Past The Miners In Championship Opener

The Aviston Aces struck first in Game 1 of the championship series, using production from the bottom of their lineup and late-game clutch hitting to capture a thrilling 5-4 extra-inning victory over the Miners on Sunday.
Lucas Deimeke, Griffin Thomas, and Levi Brening combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory, setting the table and scoring a key run.

Trenton got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning after Philip Berberich walked and Peyton Bittle singled to left field, each driving in a run. The Miners added another run in the third when a player doubled to left field, extending their lead to 3-1.

However, the defining moment of the early innings came in that same third frame. With the bases loaded and extra bases in sight for the Miners, Carter Truong made a spectacular, game-saving catch in the outfield to strand the runners and keep Aviston within striking distance.

That defensive heroics paid off late. Truong came through again in the top of the eighth, doubling down the right field line to drive in crucial runs and tie the game at four.
With the game tied in the top of the ninth, Conner Freeze delivered the knockout blow, lining a clutch single to score the go-ahead run for the Aviston Aces.

Ty Kueper earned the win for Aviston with a scoreless performance out of the bullpen. The hurler surrendered zero hits over two innings, striking out one and walking two. Reed Braundmeier got the start for the Aviston Aces, battling through seven innings while giving up four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
Brady Maltbie took the tough loss for the Miners, allowing four runs on six hits over eight innings while striking out eight.

Truong led the Aviston Aces with three runs batted in on the day. Hitting out of the number nine spot, Thomas showed the incredible depth of Aviston's lineup by pacing the offense with two hits in four at-bats. The Aviston Aces also turned a key double play in the field.

With a 1-0 lead in the championship series, the Aviston Aces will look to seal the title when they host the Miners for Game 2 this Saturday. Game 3 will follow on Sunday if necessary.
