RLAG offers a supportive MTB program that is designed for women at various skill levels, focus on building confidence, progression & COMMUNITY! Ride Like A Girl is a sister-organization to the Austin Ridge Riders and focuses exclusively on introducing women to the world of mountain biking. Based on research demonstrating that women learn new skills differently from men, rides are designated as “for women only.”
The concept is simple: we meet at local bike trails for group rides and mountain biking skills instruction. These rides are designed for ALL skill levels, from beginner to advanced! Post-ride, the group gathers for a raffle of prizes donated by local bike shops and a growing number of manufacturers. Instruction is provided on everything from riding safety to trail etiquette, bike maintenance, to first aid. Ride Like A Girl grows in popularity each year! We look forward to reconnecting with past participants and introducing a new group of women to the awesome sport of mountain biking. AGE POLICY: Riders must be 18+
While RLAG enjoys seeing young women get involved in the sport, due to a multitude of factors, including insurance liability, rider concerns and requests, and a desire to create a space for women to get together as adults, we have come to the decision to make the rides adult-only. We encourage girls younger than 18 to join their local NICA programs, or other similar groups designed to foster youth mountain biking development!
