Friday, we had the fun job of assembling shooting stands to use for our rifle and pistol disciplines. Our youth were given the task of reading blueprints, organizing the materials used, and assembling the materials into the correct places. They then had to mount metal target holders onto the bases. The last job was the toughest. Eat the ice cream. Believe it or not, very little arm twisting was required!

Mower County 4-H had five great young men and women representing us at the annual Shooters for Ho***rs Fundraiser for cancer research. They endured a very long wait and cold weather to take their turn on the line. Thanks so much all of you for putting up with your old coach and helping me out!! I'm looking forward to this year being another special one.

Below are the official results from the 2025 4-H State Tournament. Our athletes had an amazing tournament, as you will see below. Every one of them worked so hard all summer. Their dedication as individuals and as a team payed off. As one of their coaches, I was so proud of them for more than their scores. Their behavior and attitudes are beyond what I envisioned. They were a joy to watch, and they will all be great contributors to their communities. The awards they have earned will be given at Sundays banquet. They have earned every one of them.

Registration for the CVCC Fall League is now open. This League is for any athlete whose school does not offer a fall trap league.
2025 Non-Affiliated Fall Trap and S***t League

The Cedar Valley Conservation Club will again be having a Fall League for all students who care to participate and who’s school does not have a team registered for a fall State League. The $180.00 costs for the league, which includes shells and targets, will be the responsibility of the participating athlete.
Trophies for the first three places in each category.
Class 1, 6th and 7th grade
Class 2, 8th and 9th grade
Class 3, 10th through 12th grade
4:00 PM Start, you may start later if necessary
Shooting dates – September 10th (practice), 17th, and 24th.
October 1st, 8th, and 15th
250 Targets must be shot to qualify for awards. Rounds may be shot ahead or made up if needed. Awards will be presented October 16th.

Some of our athletes helped update the wildflower plot at Austin Utilities. They did a great job and worked hard. With the rain that came afterward, the flowers should really take off. Thanks to all the athletes and parents that helped.
