e a New Years Resolution to lose weight or get healthy! I have a passion for fitness and nutrition but mainly for helping people feel good about themselves again. My goal is for you to leave a training session with me in a better mood than when you arrived. Philosophy
I truly believe that when you can move well in your body, it sets you up to be better in all areas of your life, whether it’s your career, your relationships or your critical thinking – Movement is life. Alignment
Prior to beginning your first day of training, I will put you through a quick and convenient posture and alignment assessment – an industry standard. Using this data I create your road map – your unique programming that will put you on a path to moving better. This will include corrective exercise with an emphasis on achieving optimal flexibility and mobility. The goal is to bring back your posture and overall body alignment as near to baseline as possible. Good alignment means optimal muscle length and tone. When you don’t work to correct bad movement patterns you end up putting fitness on dysfunction. Not only will your performance suffer, but your risk of injury increases. Strength
You’re going to build practical strength by learning how to control your body. You’ll be a jump-rope-push-up-pull-up-L-sit king or queen. You’ll learn how to breath under tension and how to manipulate your own bodyweight with strength and precision. Depending on your training background you may see several angles to my programming, but rest assured this type of training is geared to all levels; including absolute beginners. Calisthenics and gymnastic inspired movements We’re going to work towards handstands and levers and L-sits – all that fun stuff. We will also be training traditional methods for lower body, such as squats, dead-lifts, and unilateral posterior chain exercises. We are going to get primal by crawling, climbing and balancing. We will throw things, catch things and navigate our bodies around obstacles with precision and strength. Yoga/martial arts/dance – lots of hip mobility and shoulder movements. Mind games – I incorporate simple cognitive games into my programming to challenge not only your muscle, but your gray matter too. Each training session begins with some warm-up and mobility work. The intensity will slowly grow until we get to the ‘work block.’ Typically, we focus on a skill for each day. Then the final 10 minutes of the training are devoted to an obstacle course of sorts that serves to integrate the trained movement patterns. Finally, we’ll cool down sometimes with stretching, or mobility work, but always end with a round of high fives. Be sure to contact me for more information.
