Film Acting Basics – begins July 1st!
Just starting out, or just starting to take this whole “acting thing” seriously? This is the class for you! Film Acting Basics is targeted towards actors who are looking for a solid base from which to launch their careers.
This eight week class is a fun combination of introductory techniques, auditioning skills, exercises, and entertainment business info to start you off in the right direction!
Week One/Two: Monologues/Character Study Basics
Creating a character from the ground up…. Convincingly!
Week Three/Four: Scene Study Basics
How do you break down a script? What are you looking for, and what is the goal?
Week Five: Expectations of the actor
Training is important, but how, where and why you train is also a consideration! What techniques would work for you? Maybe you’re looking for Meisner, or there should be some Method in your madness. Will improv be an improvement? And what exactly is the etiquette and protocol? What about headshots, demo reels and resumes? Help! There’s just so much to KNOW!
Week Six/Seven: Auditioning
What types of auditions might you encounter, and where do you find them? We’ll play with cold reads, basic audition techniques, and even tips on self-taping!
Week Eight: The Biz
We’ll cover the basics of how the industry works, who does what, and where actors fit into the Big Picture (both literally and figuratively)!
Class is held on Monday Nights from 7:30pm – 9:30pm
