Juan Anguiano, ATC, LAT, CPT
Juan holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree from the Athletic Training Program at the University of Texas. The rigorous athletic training program at UT afforded him the opportunity to work with national, world, and Olympic athletes on the field and in a clinical setting. Athletic trainers are recognized by the American Medical Association as allied h
ealth professionals who specialize in preventing, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating muscle and bone injuries for athletes and the general
population. Additional educationj and training in strength and conditioning, applied human anatomy, physiology of exercise, applied biomechanics of human movement, nutrition, and general medical conditions is required to complete the program. A typical day working with athletes involved taping athletes in preparation for practice or competition, re-evaluating existing injuries, evaluating acute injuries, modifying rehabilitation programs, soft-tissue and sports massage, instrument assisted soft tissue massage, yoga, manual stretching, and applying treatment modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound and electro stimulation. The demands of athletic training require the ability to apply critical thinking to solve complex situations that typically are not readily apparent. This must be done while maintaining a sharp focus on the current state of the individual, history, goals and, more importantly, building trust and cooperation. Juan brings these qualities to his perspective of Mysore-style teaching and practice. Juan is dedicated to transmitting the Ashtanga Vinyasa method according to the teachings of Sri K. Through the convergence of yoga, athletic training, personal training and massage Juan is able to provide eastern and western perspectives and techniques on yoga, health, wellness, improved athletic performance, therapeutics and rehabilitation. Additionally, Juan is able to collaborate with physicians to ensure continuity of care for clients who are seeking to transition from rehab to a more active lifestyle ensuring that rehab protocols are adhered to and completed as prescribed by medical providers.
