BEWARE EXTREMELY LONG POST
Race Report 20-21 Cresson
Saturday B.B.E
Dots Slicks or Wets from the moment we woke looked like we would be riding in the rain all day, we had managed to get a set of older rain tires however upon further inspection we decided to go with a brand new set. Bike was all ready with her new shoes as we got closer to the start and began to setup on pit wall disaster struck the bike would not start. The power commander and fuel pump were dead we scrambled for about 30 minutes trying to identify the problem to no avail. Time to risk all and go out on the B bike the 04 R1 no spare parts no spare wheels on a very slick track. After getting the tires mounted we had lost about 45 minutes but at least we had a bike and would be able to turn some laps. This was my first time ever on rain tires and to say i wasn't used to them is an understatement, so I started out very tentatively trying to get used to the grip or lack thereof. First lap out and the gear changer came loose forcing me into the pits and costing valuable time. A quick tightening and we were back out on track and started to get going unfortunately the rain had stopped and the track was drying rapidly i just put my head down determined to make laps and get through the first tank of fuel, knowing that the quality of tire was getting worse with every lap, after about 35 laps the fuel light came on and i brought the bike infor rider change. Checking the tire we realized we had to change to even stand a chance. Rob Green got on the bike as we refueled and took it out while we warmed the slicks ready to remove the wheels again and change tires, after about 5 laps we were ready and got the change done but the lack of extra wheels cost us a ton of time. With the slicks mounted we were off again and things started to get easier lap after lap after lap Rob Green Albert Richardson and myself no problems consistent lap times. I ended up finishing the race with the last 13 or so laps and the tire was toast the cords were showing but it had done it's job and got us through the day. Considering all the obstacles we really couldn't complain we managed to maintain 3rd in class and have given ourselves a fighting chance over the last two rounds.
Sunday Sprints
Race 8 was my first f the day and having told myself 5 times to grab the transponder off the endurance bike i forgot it and ended up having to turn around at the track entrance and run back to the pit to grab it. Tried to get back out on track in time but unfortunately didn't get there quick enough so had to start from pit row. Not the way i wanted to start my sprinting i just put my head down and did what i could managed to claim 11th place not great but no one to blame but myself.
Race 12 was the second race somehow i got confused in my head thinking this was the modern classic race and jumped on the wrong bike determined not to be late to the start, i realized what i had done once i was on the grid by that time it was too late. I got a good start and was able to stay in contention but the older bike was no match for the newer models, I got behind Daisy Desimone but couldn't pass although i tried several times she was able to fend me off I ended up finishing 5th in class my best finish in the CMRA so far. My next race wasn't until race 17 so i was able to settle down this race was the modern classic so the bike was setup and ready to go. Once again i got a good start and battled all the way to the line with another 5th in class finish.
Race 19 Formula 1 Novice on the new bike at the grid on time, i got a great start passing Joseph Lopez Noah Damon Reese and Kasey Lewis, Joseph was able to get back in front of me going into rattle snake and Kasey was biting at my heels. I was able to hold him off for a while but he was a little stronger in the back section of the track and got by me and quickly by Joseph through big bend i put my head down and tried to get by. I just wasn't aggressive enough and waited too long before finally making a pass on the outside going into rattle snake. By that time Kasey Lewis was long gone and i had to settle for a 7th place but i ran my Personal best time in that race and all my laps were in the 1:23's.
Race 22 was the final race i was drained and gave it everything i could again i got a good start but got a little spooked going through big bend and dropped to 8th quickly getting back into 7th on the outside in rattle snake again i couldn't catch the guys in front so just made sure i didn't drop any places and finished in 7th again.
