The best damn story of 2026. There is something deeply powerful about a little boy waking up each day, stepping outside, and simply saying, “Hey,” while waving to everyone who passes by.

It seems small. Almost insignificant. But over time, those simple gestures began to break down invisible walls. Neighbors who had lived near one another without ever speaking started to connect. People who were usually too busy, distracted, or caught up in their own routines began to pause, smile, and acknowledge one another.
That little boy reminded an entire community of something many adults have forgotten: kindness does not have to be complicated to be meaningful. He not only changed his own young life, he changed the lives of senior citizens in the community by giving them a reason to get out of the house, enjoy each other and the time they have left on this planet. If I told you that your sleep directly impacts whether you lose fat or muscle, would you believe me?

Well, you should. For years, I’ve emphasized the importance of sleep—not just to my clients, but to friends and anyone open to learning. It’s a foundational pillar of health that too many people overlook.

I’m the kind of person who, if you stop me in a grocery store and ask about what’s in my cart, I’ll gladly break it down—why I choose what I choose, how it supports performance, recovery, and long-term health, and how you can apply the same principles in your own life.

Because improving your health isn’t about secrets or shortcuts. It’s about understanding the fundamentals—and sleep sits right at the top of that list.

Listen to social media, radio, or television long enough and you’ll hear the same message over and over—weight loss, weight loss, weight loss. But let’s be clear: that message is misleading. Weight loss has never been the real goal. FAT LOSS IS.

The scale doesn’t tell you what you’re losing. You could be losing water, muscle, or fat—and only one of those actually improves your health, performance, and physique. Losing weight without intention can leave you smaller, but not better. Fat loss is the objective.

Training all major muscle groups two to three times per week allows for frequent practice of movement patterns, balanced muscular development, and efficient use of limited training time. Research consistently shows that training a muscle group multiple times per week can be highly effective for both strength and hypertrophy.

Split routines become more valuable as training age and workload increase. Advanced lifters often require greater volume and exercise variety than can comfortably fit into a full-body session. By dividing training across multiple days, they can dedicate more attention to specific muscle groups while managing fatigue more effectively.

One of the funniest things about nutrition is how selective our logic can be.

Anyone that knows me or follows my page Bodies By Akeem knows that I am a big believer of organ meat. Beef, chicken, deer, and bison organ meats are among the most nutrient-dense foods on Earth. Rich in highly bioavailable protein, iron, zinc, selenium, choline, and vitamins A, B12, folate, and riboflavin, they deliver exceptional nutrition in relatively small servings with minimal processing.

Anyway, my client drew the line at beef tongue because it came from a cow's mouth. Fair enough. So I handed her a boiled egg and politely reminded her that it didn't exactly arrive by Amazon Prime.

Sometimes we get so caught up in labels, appearances, and food myths that we forget to apply a little common sense. The lesson? Before rejecting a food, make sure your reasoning survives a five-second reality check.

Nutrition can be serious, but every now and then it deserves a good laugh too.

One of the most common excuses people make as they get older is blaming age for every physical decline they experience. While aging does bring certain physiological changes, age itself is often given far more credit than it deserves.

Many of the things people associate with getting older—weakness, weight gain, loss of mobility, chronic pain, and low energy—are frequently the result of years of inactivity, poor nutrition, inadequate sleep, chronic stress, and declining muscle mass. In other words, they are often consequences of lifestyle, not simply the passage of time.

Research consistently shows that strength training, regular movement, proper nutrition, hydration, and recovery can dramatically improve quality of life well into your 60s, 70s, and beyond. The human body is remarkably adaptable when given a reason to improve.

The problem is that many people begin borrowing against their future decades before they ever feel the consequences. Every missed workout, every poor health decision, and every year of inactivity compounds over time.

Your future health is being shaped by the decisions you make today. The best time to start was years ago. The second-best time is now. Age is inevitable. Frailty is not.

Alcohol occupies a unique place in our culture. Yet when you step back and examine it objectively, consuming a substance that impairs judgment, coordination, recovery, sleep, and overall health is not much of a skill at all.

The real challenge is being able to enjoy life without needing alcohol as a social crutch. Can you walk into a party, wedding, concert, sporting event, or vacation and have an incredible time while remaining completely present? Can you build genuine relationships, laugh, dance, and create memories without depending on a drink?

For many people, that requires far more confidence and self-awareness than simply ordering another round.

The benefits are substantial: better sleep, improved recovery, better decision-making, more energy, stronger workouts, healthier relationships, and more money left in your pocket.

A great life is not measured by how much alcohol you consume. It's measured by how fully you can enjoy life without needing it.

Most people join a gym believing that more equipment, more people, and a bigger facility automatically lead to better results. In reality, the opposite is often true.

Crowded gyms create distractions. Waiting for equipment, navigating busy workout floors, listening to conversations, and constantly adjusting your workout around other people can take focus away from what matters most—your training.

Distractions slow progress because they interrupt intensity, concentration, and consistency. The most effective workouts are not always the most complicated. They are the ones performed with purpose, focus, and ex*****on.
