Lake day reality check. 😅

Calm water on the surface doesn’t always mean safe conditions underneath.

Before heading out, know what’s below the surface and stay alert for hidden hazards.

Big news for big projects. 🔥

LCRA has made $100,000 grants a permanent part of our Community Grants program - now available twice a year.

The Divide Volunteer Fire Department knows exactly why that matters. With 34 volunteers covering 900 square miles, they spent years saving for a fire station expansion. LCRA's grant helped close the gap.

Applications open July 1. Learn more: https://www.lcra.org/news/news-releases/lcra-now-offers-grants-of-up-to-100000-twice-a-year/

LCRA has a new general manager. LCRA’s Board of Directors selected Rudy Garza as the organization's 12th general manager, continuing LCRA’s 90+ year legacy of public service. Garza joins from CPS Energy in San Antonio, where he served as president and CEO. He brings 30 years of utility experience and deep Texas roots to the role. The communities LCRA serves across more than 70 Texas counties remain at the center of everything this organization does. That will not change.

One year can make a big difference.

Compared to this time last year, water levels in lakes Buchanan and Travis - the Highland Lakes’ two water supply reservoirs - are significantly higher following major inflows and runoff into the lake system over the past year.

Lake Buchanan is up more than 20 feet.
Lake Travis is up more than 32 feet.

While conditions have improved, lake levels can change quickly depending on rainfall, runoff and water use. That’s why we continue to encourage Texans to use water wisely year-round.

Levels shown are from May 28, 2025 compared to May 28, 2026.

What’s happening behind the scenes at LCRA during a flood? 🤔

During flood events, teams across LCRA are monitoring data, running flood models, taking field measurements and coordinating with partners across the region.

Shauna LaFrance explains.

Correction: The date shown in the video should be 5/26. Sorry y’all - it was a long night for our crews and communications team alike.

Just before midnight, crews across the Highland Lakes were already monitoring conditions as storms moved through the region.

At 11:24 PM, LCRA’s River Operations team opened a floodgate at Starcke Dam to safely move water downstream into Lake Travis.

These are the moments our Dam & Hydro crews train for.

We are continuing to monitor conditions across the basin as additional storms remain possible this week.
