Our school is the result of the efforts of Professor Alexandre Ferreira Santos “Dande”, a 4th Degree Black Belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. We offer world-class level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction for individuals, families, and Law Enforcement officials of Austin and is a reference for fitness, character development, self-defense, martial art, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training for the communities of Austin, Texas

The Gracie Barra South Austin classes are aligned with the Gracie Barra Program Structure developed by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. to meet specific learning needs from people with different ages, gender and levels. Our clean, friendly, and progress oriented environment allows the students to have a challenging, inspirational, and warm learning and training experience that always make them feel like coming back. Gracie Barra is for anyone who values discipline, wellness, martial art, respect, and is looking for a well balanced life-style. It doesn’t matter if you are a person with no training background that wants to loose weight or learn self-defense, a busy business man looking for a stress relieving activity, a parent searching for an something to complement the education of your kids, or a experienced martial artist aiming for the further development of your fighting skills, come to the school. What an absolutely electric day at GB South Austin yesterday. 🔥🥋

We had the privilege of welcoming Professor Tussa for a powerful seminar that brought our entire community together. The mats were packed with focus, energy and passion — from our kids program to the adults — everyone sharing the same goal: to grow, to learn and to push each other forward. These group pictures capture more than just faces… they capture the spirit of our team.

We celebrated many well-earned color belt promotions, each one representing months and years of discipline, perseverance and belief in the process. And then came the Black Belt promotions… moments filled with emotion, gratitude and pride. Seeing students reach this milestone reminds us that Jiu-Jitsu is truly a life journey — one that transforms not only our skills, but who we are as people.

Now we step into an exciting new phase. Our newly graduated Professors are on the mats with renewed purpose and responsibility, ready to lead, to mentor and to continue building something special together. Their experience and dedication will have a huge impact on everyone who trains with us. 🙏🏽

And this is only the beginning of what’s coming. Over the next days we’ll be sharing highlights from the seminar, special moments from the promotions, technical insights, behind-the-scenes emotions and stories that made this event so unforgettable. A couple of years ago, we stood together celebrating these incredible leaders as they earned their brown belts — a milestone that represents maturity, responsibility, and deep commitment to the journey. We have watched them grow not only in technique, but in character, leadership, and heart.
