Anxiety isn’t bad.

It’s future problem-solving, the ability to think about what could happen, a superpower humans developed that made us the apex predators of the world.

When you feel anxiety, you’re supposed to notice what your brain is telling you that you need to know, come back to the present, make a decision, and take action that will make your life better.

Do this and anxiety will become a loving part of yourself that informs you, not an identity you become lost in.

Your capacity for anxiety is your ability to imagine what could happen.

It's a superpower.

But it's just one power, the power of thought, and if you let that one power take over your life, it will destroy you.

You must balance the power of thought with the power of no thought and the power of action.

Stop thinking of yourself as broken because you're anxious.

You are skilled at one thing.

You just need to level up two other powers to reach your potential.

The antidote to anxiety is action.

Anxiety is often caused by indecision.

Indecision is one of the most exhausting things you can participate in. It's draining. It keeps you stuck in one place, and it's terrifying.

It's very tempting to think that the decision you're trying to make is very important and that all action needs to wait until you have made that decision. But most of the time, if you're struggling to come up with the answer, the fastest way to come up with it is to simply pick an action that is possible and move forwards.

Learning to do this in small daily activities can teach you to do it in bigger life decisions. Practice taking action before your mind has come up with a certain answer, and you will teach your mind that you can live in uncertainty, that it's okay to not know everything, and that it's not expected to have the answer. It's difficult to get yourself to do it, but in the long run, it's one of the most calming things you can do for your own mind.

You shouldn't learn to love failure. 100% of the bad parts of my life came from feeling like I was not winning.

Most of my success came from finding a spot in my life where I felt like a little bit of a winner and then figured out how to win at that thing more. It's called positive behavioral reinforcement. It's scientifically proven that it's more useful to figure out what good thing you should do more of than what bad thing you should stop.

Failure is just the baseball bat that helps when you're not listening.
