Jake Patterson, Owner and Director of the Patterson Academy of Martial Arts
Jake began his martial arts journey over 20 years ago. His martial arts lineage can be traced back directly to the legendary Bruce Lee, who passed his art onto Guro Dan Inosanto, Bruce Lee’s protege. Guro Dan in turn taught Guro Harley Elmore Filipino Martial Arts, Maphilindo Silat, as well as Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do. Jake had the honor of serving as the lead instructor and staff manager at Harley Elmore’s prestigious Warriors Way Martial Arts Academy. Jake received his instructor certification in Filipino Martial Arts, Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Maphilindo Silat under Guro Harley Elmore. Always seeking to improve his skills and continue his growth as a martial artist, Jake went on to receive his instructor certification directly under Guro Dan Inosanto in Juan Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts as well as receiving instructor certification under Pamana Tuhon Chris Sayoc in Sayoc Kali. As well as possessing multiple certifications in martial arts, Jake has obtained several other certifications which include:

Growing up in New York City, Jake was introduced to Martial Arts by his father as a safety and awareness teaching tool. Jake was immediately intrigued and tried multiple martial arts until he found his passion. Once Jake was introduced to the arts taught by Guro Dan, he was immediately drawn to the real world applications and functionality of those arts. After studying for many years, he, also, grew the love the broad history and culture of the arts. Jake moved to Austin, TX in 2014 to open his own academy and share his passion.
