Shirley McPhail School of Dance (SMSD) Mesa Studio- 8018 Mesa Drive (512) 345-1284 We are a family business proud to celebrate a legacy of quality, traditional dance instruction.

SMSD was founded in 1970 by Shirley McPhail, and was voted Best Dance School in 2020 by the Austin American Statesman Choice Awards. Our three main goals consist of creating an enjoyable and fun dance atmosphere, nurturing and safe educational environment, and helping students develop proper dance techniques. SMSD is home to an extensive adult dance program, as well as Cotillion Austin Style. Prospective students are encouraged to try out a class and begin experiencing Miss Shirley’s joy of dance!

Dance is about so much more than learning steps. It builds confidence, encourages creativity, creates friendships, and gives every dancer a place to find their rhythm. ❤️✨ At SMSD, we love watching our dancers grow both on and off the dance floor!
