Woo! Coach Vanessa (Vanessa Swesnik) is on summer hours for the next couple of months, meaning she has open slots for private coaching for kids! Get your kiddo out of the house and active with some new personal safety skills, with lessons tailored to their needs. Slots are available Tuesday through Thursday afternoons for 45 minutes, and best of all, there’s space for mom and dad to get some work done, PLUS free nitro cold brew coffee on us. Awesome day at the gym yesterday! We had our back to back Emergency preparedness seminars - Basic Fi****ms Safety and Stop the Bleed. The first seminar was an intro to fi****ms for people who are either uncomfortable with or brand new to fi****ms, and for many of them it was their first time holding and learning the basic functions of clearing and making one safe. Huge success and great job to certified instructor Vanessa Swesnik for introducing people to these concepts safely, as well as Shannon Shafer for providing assistance and training tools.

Following that we had our second Stop the Bleed with Austin-Travis County EMS, where we learned what to do in bleeding emergencies, including packing wounds and applying tourniquets.

We definitely plan to do more of each of these types of events in the near future, this is one of the reasons we opened this gym in the first place: less fear, more action.

Use our Summer Starter Special in one of two ways:

1) a discounted class bundle to train at your leisure, at whatever pace you choose. Our normal class pass is extremely popular, and is 8 classes for $175 — the summer starter doubles the amount of classes for just $25 more.

2) a low-risk way to kick off good training habits — if you knock out all 16 classes in two months, we’ll roll the cost of the special into your continued training, discounting future memberships, class passes, or private lessons.

Either way, you’ve got excellent ways to build new habits or keep up your regular training.

Keeping space, making an electric fence, and when to go first — these are the concepts we’re working in self defense classes for the next month. The soft skills of self-defense are often ignored in martial arts environments, but it’s something we don’t want to forget about. We’re spending all of June navigating the gray spaces and getting comfortable being uncomfortable, so we know when and how to apply skills when things change quickly. It’s super valuable training! Don’t worry, we’ll also have fun hitting pads, we’re just doing it with a slightly different focus for a few weeks.

Saturday mornings 🤩 Good vibes and good times. Kids and teens classes, women’s self defense, striking, and krav maga, every week. Great way to kick (sometimes literally) off the weekend. Come hang out with us!

Woo! We’re excited to have back in Austin later this year. This will be the 4th time we’ve had them out — it’s seriously one of the best 2-day training seminars you can do in the self-defense realm. Fantastic coaches, fantastic curriculum. You’ll learn a ton, you’ll work hard, you’ll get checkpoints on your training, and you’ll walk away with functional skills and drills. Now enrolling! Want to get your kiddos involved in our program for the summer? We’ve got two new spots open on Tuesday afternoons, and we still have a few spots for sign-ups on Thursdays. Our kids program is committed to teaching kids 7-12 practical (and fun) self defense classes. This month we’re focusing on communication skills and dealing with dangerous grabs.

Happy birthday 🎂 🎉! We’re genuinely so lucky to have someone like Vanessa - a great coach and person who genuinely cares about her students, and is always looking for ways to make both herself and them better on the mat. There’s nobody friendlier or fiercer out there. She deserves the best kind of birthday, so tell her how cool she is.
