We pleased to announce this will be the Third UCI BMX Worlds in the USA within a period of 7 years. It had not been in the USA for over 16 years prior before Rock Hill, SC (2017 worlds) and Houston, TX (2020 worlds). Here is the press release:
"On September 27, 2019, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the international governing body of cycling, announced the 2024 UCI BMX World Championships will be coming to the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track in May 2024, just ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France that year.
Rock Hill hosted the UCI BMX World Championships in 2017, drawing 3700 riders from 48 countries, with an estimated total attendance of over 50,000 people and a direct economic impact of $19.2 million. Prior to 2017, the last time the event was held in the United States was in Louisville, Kentucky in 2001.
The City of Rock Hill will work with many partners to form a Local Organizing Committee to begin the process of planning for this international event. Groups who supported the bid to host the 2024 event included USA Cycling, USA BMX, Governor McMaster’s office and the Rock Hill Sports Comm".
